Good headend for complete ASUS AiMesh
I’ve had this router for over a year now, and it was a hassle to get everything working properly, but overall it’s a great value and the learning will assist you long term in networking. Firstly, the setup is straight forward - plug and play. The issue lies in the added features, which didn’t all work at first, but now seem to be working seamlessly after a couple of updates. Secondly, don’t buy this router if you need a fancy solution to a self-inflicted wound. This works as a commercial grade router for SOHO applications, with consumer grade options. Do not expect this router to function as an all in one networking solution (e.g., firewall, IDS, IPS, etc). ASUS did partner with TrendMicro to offer a free packaged threat monitoring sensor, which is such a value. I set up a honeypot on my network, and the sensor on the router works very well. Lastly, USE THE AIMESH - don’t try and create a robust network full of ACLs and specialized routing behavior - This is not a Ubiquiti product, but if you’re setup is small in scale, this works better than you’d expect, and with PoE+ ports.

Don't recommend for passive PoE clients.
My main buying point was V-lan and the Active PoE. V-lan was what I need. Dns encryption is nice. Vpn client was a surprise. Main settings are available connecting directly with a web browser. The app is very limited. Active PoE only work with other Active PoE. I should have bought passive PoE router. It always send power. I just have to be careful if 12v is going out, only connect a 12v PoE device. It would have been nice if a could manually control the power output by inserting the need information. Then the ethernet port goes from Active to Passive PoE. Example device need 12v then just set to 12v, but noooooo! It did not work for me, does not mean it wont work for you needs. Just make sure the client it also Active PoE. Just because it was released this year does not mean it use all the latest technologies. More than 3/4 of products are passive PoE. This product was a fail for me on the PoE abilities. All this could be fix if i could set 12v on the selected port. I hope for a firmware solution to this problem. However, it unlikely to happen.

Finally, a Router That Just Works
I have super fast internet at home, plus a backup connection, but I don’t like using standard Wi-Fi routers. I prefer plenty of Ethernet ports and a separate Wi-Fi access point. I also need a router that can manage both of my internet connections. Over the years, I’ve tried all sorts of brands, but they always let me down—random slowdowns, dropped devices, and constant reboots. It drove me crazy. Then I discovered Asus’s new ExpertWiFi line, made for power users like me. I picked up this router and paired it with the Asus EBA63 access point, and I’ve been blown away. It’s been five months, and I haven’t had to reboot a single time. Everything just works. If a device does drop off (which is rare), it reconnects automatically within minutes. The router is incredibly flexible—you can run one, two, or even three WAN connections, and it has up to eight LAN ports. The mobile app that controls all the Asus devices is another pleasant surprise—simple, useful, and reliable. My only small gripe is the naming. It’s called “ExpertWiFi,” but it’s actually a wired router, so you’ll still need a separate access point for wireless. Overall, this setup has completely changed my home network. Stable, smart, and powerful—exactly what I was looking for.

Decent router but really just a standard router to control a mesh WiFi
I returned this because it didn't fit my needs. Was looking for a replacement for an end of life Cisco router. Was expecting something more robust with similar features and this didnt' fit my needs.

Great router for the price
Router easy to setup, especially Open VPN. Would have been 5 stars, but setup documentation very limited. Had some challenges setting up vans and had to use trial and error to get it to work.

Don't let the size fool you! I wish these were around in my WAN/LAN installs. It does it all. FAST.
I was in IT for over 30 years. How times and size of devices have changed, Looking for a SUPER Router. Don't be fooled by the price! This thing fringes on Enterprise Cisco routers.
