Hobonichi Techo 2025 5-Year Techo Book [Japanese/A5/January Start/2025 to 2029/5-Years Diary/Planner]

Well, at the current price of $86.00 on Amazon -- and not far from that price at specialty stationery shops -- this may be a considered purchase for a lot of people. However, if you are a regular Hobonichi user & fan, you know the quality of the Tomoe River paper they use. What I like about this 5-year planner/diary/journal is that you get 2 pages per day. The left side of the spread is dated, but the right side is open. If you don't want to write across the spread for each day, you could also make this a 10-year planner by only writing down one side and then adding more dates for the following 5 years and writing down the right-hand side in the same way. The covers of these are soft and bendy -- I would like to see Hobonichi make a hard cover version of their 5-year planners -- like they have with their "Hon" series of yearly planners. The A5 is heavy and thick, so it really warrants, to my preference anyway, a hard cover rather than such a floppy vinyl-type of cover. If you divide up the price over 5 years, it justifies it for some people. I am almost done with an A6 size of the 5-year Hobonichi, & I can vouch that it is pleasant indeed to look back over previous years of the same date to see what you or your family, etc. were doing back then. We have used ours as a reference for questions on dates for activities, etc. already. Very useful that way. A worthwhile purchase -- & fine quality -- for those who value stationery and fine paper, in particular. Just deserves a sturdier cover, especially for this price point. Hobonichis, however, are made in Japan from fine paper with great attention to detail, so you pay for that. Enjoy yours if you do purchase one!

My work friends who are into office supplies call it "notebook p0rn". Days of the week (like Monday/Tuesday...) are in Japanese, so you learn fun stuff like how days of the week are named after fire and water. The paper is spongy and easy to write on. I recommend buying sticker tabs that show the month. Only gripe is the pleather front. This will not last 5 years. Buy/find some way to protect the front cover.

I'm disappointed in the damage to the box and minor damage on the bottom spine of the book. It was delivered in a pouch and not in box. I also did a pen test and there was significant bleed through with the cheap colored pens from Temu. I do not use fountain pens or midliners with the Techos. So again, not a deal breaker for me. The Pentel RSVP is my pen of choice and it was good.

This is probably Hobonichi's best product. Brilliant design concept with beautiful paper for the true Journaller. Of all the Hobonichi Journals I purchased for this year, this is the only one I truly enjoy. It has an elegant simple design, beautiful color, an attached bookmark, and space for 5 years of reflection. I purchased the A5 size and when I've completed the 5 years, I will buy it again.

I think the paper quality of this version is really bad. I had a 5-year planner (2022-2026) and there was no ink-blending at all. I use exactly the same pen and same ink for this version but the ink-blending is severe. A bit disappointed. (See the photo attached, the upper half is the 2025 version, bottom one 2022 version).

I cannot really give a meaningful review of this because I have bought it as a present for someone. The descriptive info on the Amazon page sold it to me as a fine interesting idea for a journal.

Papierqualität lässt sehr zu wünschen übrig. Selbst die feinsten Füller Gelstifte oder Kugelschreiber ghosten. Über Amazon fand ich keine Möglichkeit dies zu reklamieren.

I love it!!! Got it in two days after ordering. Can’t wait to record for my life for the next 5 years. I’ve tried other hobonichi products like the daily A6 and A5, but I could fill them up. I know it’s not a must to fill up the pages, but I really like it when the pages are filled up. So this is perfect, I don’t have to beat myself up for not filling up the whole page.

Respon perfectament a les espectatives. Bona relació qualitat preu, cal pensar que equival a cinc agendes per cinc anys (una inversió pels pròxims cinc anys). La idea és molt interessant i permet anar veient l’evolució de les nostres vides quotidianes.
