Panasonic 55” smart TV
Exactly what you would expect from Panasonic; picture quality is good, functions good, simply to set up, affordable (bargain with the discount offered), central stand with wall mounting possible if prefer. A* rating, energy efficiency excellent, timers, lots of apps, FREE TIVO built into the tv. Very happy with it 👌

Really good smart tv that doesn’t require an aerial
Looking for a lower priced branded flat LED TV? How about a Panasonic one? This is the Panasonic TB-43W70AEY W60 Series, 43 Inch TV KD-43X72K 4K HD LED 60hz Smart TV, Measures 96.5 x 23.5 x 61.7cm. Unboxing this TV was a delight compared to others I have had in the past, it was as light as feather, and there is just the simply assembly of one base to screw in. You get one standard remote control powered by 2 x AAA Batteries, that are included and were branded Panasonic. There is no need to connect to a terrestrial aerial as the WiFi sorts that and connect the power, there are 2 x HDMI 2.0, 1 x HDMI 2.1, 2 x USB 2.0, Headphone output, 1 x Digitsl Audio Out and an Ethernet cable, so you can connect your devices Sky, BluRay, Firestick, Consoles and your internet. But you can connect to your WiFi, which is easily done via the initial set up, this allows you to connect and use the TiVo / Freely. This will guide you through the terrestrial tune in, which scan automatically via WiFi, stores channels and allows you to chop n change as you wish! Speaking of the remote this is a pretty bog standard Panasonic layout remote, but has added shortcut buttons to the aforementioned Freely, Netflix, Disney + and YouTube, there is also a voice command button in the centre. Using the TV is a delight, the TiVo engine seems to handle things well, even when multi buttons are pressed, it will go with last pressed option, no real lag, so whatever processor it uses does the simple things well. You get Dolby Atmos on the sound, so ideal for bedrooms and small living rooms, any larger and you will most certain need a soundbar! Love the Freely feature, all channels available as if by aerial but via WiFi, it has all the on demand Apps to play your favourite tv shows from, luckily they are all here BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My5, Apple TV, Paramount + (which is free with Apple TV) and there are even Music Apps. Hopefully you subscribe to the top packages giving you the 4K content, this will give you a real taster of what this tv can do. We normally buy the top flagship models, but this became available and I got it for my youngest daughter and I was not disappointed. This exceeded all expectations with the display, the 4K images this was dishing out were comparable to sets that are double the price, the 4k Panasonic engine really excels itself with its display the colours are immense, the outlines are crisp, no judder, real natural motion and the 4K HD holds depth really well. In the past I have been really picky with black levels, but these weren’t an issue on this set, just some simple twerks in the picture settings and you can achieve the perfect picture. Google the model and picture calibration, there you will find your perfection and get the most out of your new TV. There is nothing wrong with the standard picture choices, but pick one and fine tune it with the perfect calibration. You will notice a huge difference on 4K Blu-Rays and especially when playing games in Game Mode! Unfortunately you will not get the best performance for the current generation of consoles, as they run at 120fps (2.1 HDMI) and this set pushes just 60fps (2.0 HDMI), that is my only grumble. But all sets in the future will be 120fps and HDMI 2.1… Overall I’d thoroughly recommend this 4K HD Panasonic TV, it is the right side of £300, has a lot going for it with its Freely / TiVo Smart options, great voice control and bright vivid pictures.

Very nice tv. Ultra thin bezel. Good colours.
Probably the thinnest bezel I’ve seen on a tv. Maybe 5mm? Then picture all the way. Very nice picture too. Functionality is straightforward enough. Sound is good for such a thin unit. Worth the money.

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
Awful! I will never buy a new Panasonic tv again! To get a decent picture you have to turn off ALL the power saving functions, and even then it’s nowhere near as sharp as it should be. You’re stuck with the apps they put on the tv and cannot add your own. Freely is a restrictive con. Not many useful channels outside of the mainstream, and if you choose to restart a programme you can’t pause, fast forward or bring any programme information up - just have to watch it without moving if you don’t want to miss anything. The tv will freeze when it wants, even while the Wi-Fi connection is stable and no other products have a drop out. From day one I’ve had problems changing channels and using other functions when the remote control is paired - it doubles up the signal (press 1 and get 11, press pause and it immediately un-pauses etc), so I have to use it without remote pairing which results in a laggy experience, and total loss of the voice command function. Engineer been out twice and still no further forward. Panasonic sent a new remote and that solved nothing, then closed the ticket when I was still talking to them about the remote issue, and I’ve just had another engineer out but I’d forgotten about the remote only playing up when it’s been idle for a minute. Worst tv ever purchased.

Reasonably priced and fairly easy to set up, with a little patience.
I had to replace an old TV that was delaminating and had slow, clunky old tech internet. The Panasonic was reasonably priced for 4K resolution, with decent connectivity at the back of the TV. I was almost put off by the reviews about set up but almost all of it worked first time by following the on-screen instructions, including the channel search. The worst part was setting up wifi connectivity, where it failed to connect and dropped the signal a few times before it eventually settled down. Similarly at first it was quite slow generally to start up and change channel etc, but this sped up after a short while and now it's quite normal. It's almost like it needed a while to wake up completely from its sleep in transit. Setting up some of the app accounts on the TV was assisted/sped up by using a separate phone or tablet to use in conjunction with the on-screen passcodes. Most of the TV apps you'd expect to see are to be found on the 'Freely' function, which has its own button on the remote. We also plug in a Roku dongle via HDMI for some subscription foreign language channels and this worked fine, the only upset being that when we first tested it, the TV sound cut out completely! A quick Google search showed this is a common issue with Panasonic TVs and the first suggested solution, to unplug from the mains for 60 seconds and restart, worked first time (memories of Windows 95!!), and so far no repeat. My wife complained that the screen was too bright, but it was a simple job to adjust the contrast via the Settings button on the remote. So all in all it's a 4.5 star rating due to those small teething issues, but otherwise I am very happy with it.

Internet issues
A good TV, but it has one very annoying issue, and that is that the internet connection keeps dropping out at random. ( Only on the TV, no other devices) Otherwise...great sound and picture, etc
