Rugged, will last forever!
Left photo is the new vs the old (Dec 2012). Right photo shows the wear on the velcro on the old sandals. Living in Texas, I wear these about 5 days a week. You can't wear the soles out! I wash motorcycles in them and it doesn't hurt them. You can see the sole's are hardly worn. The new ones aren't as comfortable as the old...yet! Gonna have to break 'em in. When I break them in, I'll revisit this review and give them 5 stars! Let's face it...I just wanted some new sandals. Smile!

Narrow and stiff
I'm still wearing a pair of Merrell Moab sandals I bought in 2014 that have seen hundreds of miles of trail and road. I wore them on a 10 mile trail hike the first day I wore them, and had no issues. They are beat up and ugly, but still comfortable. So, the same size Sandspur Oak sandal seems to fit the same when I put them on, but as soon as I start walking the sandals twist on my feet leaving my big toe on the edge of the sandal. Even worse is they make fart sounds as I walk. I kept them hoping I could get them adjusted over time and they would be as comfortable as my old sandals, but I'm giving up. No adjustment fixes the poor fit. Probably just throw them away, even though they look new. Don't want to ruin anyone else's feet donating or selling them.

Good sandal, bad design
I *really* wanted to love these sandals. They're comfortable and felt right out of the box. Unfortunately, I had to return them for two reasons, one minor, one major.Minor: They run about half a size small, and since Merrell doesn't do half sizes, I needed the next size upMajor, and why I refunded instead of exchanging: the interior tags rub my feet. You may not notice it at first, but eventually you will. And you won't be able to stop noticing it forever after that. If any sandal makers are reading this: TAGS DON'T BELONG ON THE INSIDE OF SANDALS - since it's paper instead of padding like the rest of the sandal, it rubs the skin off until either a callous is built up or the tag rubs off, both of which take weeks of discomfort. You can't do this with high-end sandals like these, it's unforgiveable when there are other choices like Teva and Ecco

Just a Bit Narrow
I'm lucky enought to have a Marrells factory store in my town and was going to stop in try them on and buy from them but they did not stock this style.....Strange because this looks like what most guys are looking for in a Sandal style.I bought these Marrells because my wife has 6 pairs of different styles of Marrells shoes and braged them up enought that I pulled the trigger.I ware a wide width and these are just a bit to narrow in a D width. Sometimes I can get away with a D width in a sandal only because your not wearing socks, (you better not be wearing socks with Sandals). I would not recommend this Sandal for guys with feet wider then a E.If Merrell made these in half sizes I beleve they would have fit me better. I will loosen the front strap a bit more as they break in and I think that will help.I'm going to keep them just because of the excelent quality of the Sandals. There very well made and should last a long time.

Too Stiff
I have purchased Merrell sandals before and they always fit great. Very comfortable. But these were stiff and not comfortable at all. They rubbed my foot in such a way that I know they would cause blisters. My opinion is it is because they are so stiff and did not have that soft feeling I want in a sandal. So they were returned.

Great Deal for $35
These were a great deal at $35, fit as expected. Sole is firm but at this price that is expected. Still comfortable to wear all day, short break in time. I'm sure they'll get even better with time.

Not comfortable like my previous 3 sets of Merrells
Not comfortable like my previous 3 sets of Merrells. Also only new sandals that have given both feet blisters.Hopefully they wear in more and things change, but it's not looking good. I will revise my review if so.

Have had 2 pairs previously!
Love that they are well made, comfortable and look nice. I just wear them out since they are on my feet all summer. They get wet and sometimes dirty, but clean up well. I do a lot of walking and appreciate the arch support and grip of the soles. First 2 pairs I had were purchased at a discount/overstock store and I keep going back to see if they will get them again, but found this pair on line.

The plastic broke within a year
Merrell used to be an excellent product then the company was brought out. I have a pair of their sandals that were purchased over 20 years ago and still going strong. This product broke within a year of, admittedly, heavy use whilst cycling and was not what was expected from this company. On the bright side, the company that bought Merrell also bought CAT and whilst the quality of CAT also deteriorated they have started to make amends for taking their eye off the ball and CAT is coming back to the same previous quality so let's hope that the same is true of Merrell.
