Camera's are up again
Worked right out of the box. Installed the HDD right into our Speco security camera and it was formatted and recording in minutes. Great price for getting the security cameras up again.

Great product & Great customer service
Had an issue with shipping but seller was prompt in correcting it. Drive showed up and is 0hrs. Plugged it into my Unifi system for cameras and it works perfectly! I now have almost 2 months of backups.

Storage for my NVR
Needed a larger drive for my security camera NVR system. This gives me about 26 days using 10 - 4k cameras. A little noisy while running, but not terrible. Great drive for this application!

Two bad units. Buyer beware.
This is the second faulty bed (WD Purple HDD, 8tb) I have received. I've used Western Digital for years and never had this kind of experience. The first one appeared to be new in original Western Digital packaging. It failed to spin up and would not be.recognized by my system (Reolink RLN36 NVR). It was returned and I reordered the same part number again. For test purposes I repurposed a used Western Digital Black 1tb drive to verify that the system was not faulty. It performs as expected, so I know my system is not the problem. The second drive was not shipped in any kind of factory original packaging. A bubble wrap bag was the only protection, other than the anti static bag immediately around the drive. Upon power up this drive spins up and the heads repeatedly go through a cycle that is far louder than normal - the type of noise a drive makes when failure is imminent - and it never gets recognized by the system. As of this writing my return of the first drive has not been processed and now the second one does not work. I'm out almost $400 of my money and still can't use my system. I plant to buy from a distributor that will send me a properly packaged drive, handled in the correct way before it reaches me. Apparently Amazon and this vendor are not up to that task.

Reolink NVR replacement
Swapped out the 2TB in a Reolink RLN8-410 with this new drive and it's been solid with storing ~one month of feeds from eight cameras (mix of POE and battery). No performance issues with either recording multiple feeds or playback.

Built specificly for continuous writing24/7
Was a quick upgrade to my NVR, 4 screws on the case 4 screws on the drive and two cables. The NVR came with a standard laptop drive, which are not built for continuous writing. I have 2 su h NVRs and the first one lasted just years.

Trying a different one
Not compatible with certain nvr devices but smaller ones should work

A very quiet drive
I previously ordered a Toshiba N300 16TB NAS 3.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive - CMR SATA 6 GB/s 7200 RPM 512 MB Cache - HDWG51GXZSTA drive for our surveillance system, but it was extremely noisy/clicky big time. I returned it and got this WD drive. It's extremely quiet for a drive of this size and so glad we switched!
