Fun skateboard for beginners and kids
This is a board that really I would say is designed for kids. Although it says it’s suitable for adults, only for up to 180lb which is just under 13 stone. By comparison, Penny branded 22inch boards are suitable for up to 220lb, around 15 stone and 10lb. The design is very similar to other, branded 22” boards, and although the price is less, is it worth the saving?Although the trucks are aluminium, it doesn’t specify more than that. Not all aluminium trucks are created equal! It’s hard to judge these based on the little info given, but it doesn’t specify what type of casting is used, for example, that will impact on the strength. If the intended use is quite light (eg a child learning, generally skating with minimal impact) these should be fine, but for anyone more advanced who will be attempting tricks, the strength of the trucks matters. I’ve seen broken trucks at the skatepark, it happens. The wheels are pretty good, if basic, light up wheels. The dynamo means not charging is needed. If you find any are not lighting up you could try tightening the wheel nuts by just a quarter of a turn with the included tool, to create a little more contact. The down side to these type of wheels is that it’s harder to change the bearings in them because there’s not much space between the bearings to be able to insert a bearing press and pull the bearing out, but it can be done! Check out YouTube for some tutorials. At 60mm diameter these are on the bigger size for skateboard wheels, and the 78a durometer is super soft - good for beginners or very uneven surfaces, but I find them a bit slow and sticky. But it’s very personal, depending partly on the weight of the rider. The board itself is pretty good, it doesn’t feel like it’s flexing too much even though I’m towards the top of the weight range recommended. To ride it’s fun enough! I think it’s great for kids, and beginners, but for anyone more serious I would make a slightly larger investment and buy from a specialist skate shop, where you will get advice and support to get the right set up for your needs.

Very happy with purchase
I have bought it for my granddaughter for Christmas, so it has not been used as yet, however it looks very sturdy and exactly as described. She is going to love the flashing wheels.

Let The Good Times Roll
Measuring in at 69cm x 20cm x 20 cm (that's about 22" long and 6" wide) and weighing1.96 Kilograms, the Merkapa skateboard is described as a "mini" board and is certainly an optimal size your younger boarders, but make no mistake, this is the real deal, it's a proper skateboard, fully assembled and ready to roll.Made of very tough polypropylene, with aluminium fittings and PU wheels with shocks this is a tough board with a stated load capacity of 180lb.My board is a bright blue, but there is a wide choice of vivid colours available - subtlety and discretion is not on the menu so you won't find any subdued pastel shades. In keeping with the eclectic colours, the 6mm skateboard wheels are not only multicoloured, but feature bright coloured LEDs that are kinetically powered, so will automatically light up as the wheels spin; the faster the wheels turn, the more energy is produced and the brighter the lights. They are nice and responsive. There's an excellent crosshead screwdriver/hex wrench tool provided, it's affixed to the underside of the board which is tightly wrapped in a plastic seal upon arrival. You'll need to use it straight away because the plastic wrapping won't come away fully without loosening the wheel brackets first. So don't be deceived into thinking that this is somehow not a "real" skateboard because of it's more diminutive size; this is a quality mini-board that can be used by kids and adults alike, and is built robustly enough to expect much fun use from it.

Superb, sturdy and colourful mini skateboard
Behind the bright blue board colour, multi colour wheels and flashing lights in each wheel, is a ‘proper’ and superbly built little skateboard.Every aspect of this board has been well designed and put together - my household has seen numerous mini boards over the years, and despite the ‘silly’ colourful appearance, this is the best built one I have seen. The set includes a multi function cross head screwdriver and wrench, and this needs to be used before starting on the skateboard, to remove the final pieces of transparent plastic wrapping. In use, clearly the board is tremendous fun, with sets of flashing lights in each of the different coloured wheels, but importantly, the board is really solid, and handles very well. For this reason it’s a good starter skateboard, which my grandchildren aged 8 and 10 have enjoyed immensely. It’s lightweight but not at all flimsy. At the risk of stating the obvious, please ensure you have proper protective gear including a helmet and pads for elbows and knees. The skateboard is good enough for proper use at a skate park, and not just pottering around in the garden or near home.Overall, it’s easy to recommend this skateboard to anyone looking for a 22” model, and who is not afraid of bright colours and lights.

Good quality
The media could not be loaded. This is a great quality skateboard. I love the fact the wheels light up and flash every time you use it and it recharges its self so you don’t need batteries or to charge it up.I received the blue one. It also comes with a tool to undo the nuts.It goes along smoothly and would make a perfect Xmas giftI definitely recommend this 👍🏻
