A great box set
OK so there are no extra's but I'm not complaining. What you do get is 39 discs, all 6 series, over 94 hours of medieval magic. The on screen chemistry between Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor is superb, and there is a great comedy element largely provided by Ted Raimi as Joxer and occasionally by the manic Bruce Campbell as Autolycus in guest appearances. There are so many stand-out episodes, from the start where Xena picks up Gabrielle, Death in Chains, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, One Against an Army, it gets a little weaker and a little too philosophical in the episodes with Eli but more than makes up for that with the later Norse gods episodes. The series plays havoc with any thoughts of time-lines and geography, we have David and Goliath, Julius Caesar, Hercules, Aries, Ulysses, Boadicea, Ares, Pheidippides and the Spartans, Homer. Hell it's a fantasy series, why not? This is one of those series that I kept catching odd episodes of and never too many on the trot. I got this set as soon as I saw it was being released, if you have the individual box sets keep them. With no extras it does not justify the extra cost and the prices being asked do smack a little of profiteering, but if people are willing to pay!In closing I have to say it is a very impressive package and I do not regret the initial outlay. Outstanding.

wowee what a price
well, what can one say, not a lot really, except that some people must be REALLY desperate to buy this series, if you are going to fork out nearly £550 for it!!! Cos that is something I'd never do, not even £90 would beg me to buy it??!!?? but saying that i did watch xena when she was on the telly, and i really did like the way she 'kicked butts' to put it politely, if there really is a way to put it like that...but 90 or even 550 quids worth..!! NO THANK YOU!!!!!

An excellent start, weak middle, but a brilliant conlusion
The opening episode of this box set concludes the arc of the Xena and Gabby hate/hate relationship. However it is done with a difference 'The Bitter Suite' is Xena's first ever musical episode. A lavish musical-fantasy set against the backdrop of a tarrot card dreamworld called Illusia. An excellent start to the box set.The rest of the box set is pretty average compared to Part 1 of series 3, the usual laughs and jokes are still to be had, however the episodes seem to lack their usual Xena punch. However, that said there are a few episodes where the usual standard of script and acting wins out. In episodes like 'One against an army', 'Forget me not' and 'Tsunani' we witness issues of friendship, courage, love and the greater good being shown in true Xena style.Producers must have been aware of the fact that the latter part of series 3 was not up to its usual excellent standard, and in an attempt to save the very best for last - delivered a two part story with the return of Hope and Callisto. 'Sacrific' and 'Sacrific Part 2' are the grand finale, showing the battle between good and evil in superb style. Without wishing to ruin the ending we see Gabby re-confirm her love and friendship by sacrificing her own life for that of her good friend Xena (hence the title). An excellent conclusion to a series that started off brilliantly, had its problems in the middle but came back fighting, leaving the watcher desparate for answers to the 'will she, wont she live' Gabby senerio, but also for the release of season 4.

Complete series - great!
As I'd missed the last three series of Xena when it was originally on TV - and didn't fancy purchasing the volumes separately (I'm sure that all of the series would have come to a higher price than the box set) I decided to get this. What a good decision it was.The box consists of a hard cardboard sleeve, with a book-type insert that houses the discs. Four discs are mounted on each page with the type of spindle that you find inside cd cases. Each page has a montage of different scenes from the episodes on the back. The numbering of the episodes can be a little confusing, so if you don't remember which disc you last watched, you can sometimes accidentally skip a disc! There are usually four episodes per disc, with the last of the series volumes being two or three episodes (depending on how big a volume is).Other than a few photo galleries there are no special features, but it is still worth the purchase, especially if you have missed episodes.A complete list of episode names adorns the back of the box.

It's just parts 1 and 2 of the season boxsets repackaged
Now,as I said in the title,it's just the parts 1 and 2 season boxsets repackaged,so if you already have the season boxsets I would n't advise buying this. What's more the total price of the season boxsets online is cheaper than this boxset anyway. So,why did I give it five stars?Well ,essentially if like me you are a Xenite this is a good Xena product, however I would wait till it goes down in price, because over £200 and no special features (except photo gallerys)is essentially a rip off. However,in conclusion I feel this is a quality product,so if you want it, buy it...however I cogitate that only true Xena fans should buy this release, because it is a lot of money!
