Kitten needed help and this did the job!
Got for a little white kitten I rescued, she had digestive issues that cause constipation and every other thing I tried either did nothing or did very little, I was beginning to worry so I brought her back to the Vet and they gave her an enema and it did work but she HATED IT! It was so hard to watch and hear but it did work but only for the next few days before she couldn't us the bathroom again I new she would probably have to go back and get an enema again but I didn't want to put her through that again if I didn't have to so I talked to my vet and they told me to try this and if this doesn't work within 24/48 hours to come back in, so I got this and... IT WORKED! like some of the other reviews on here she didn't want to eat it on her own but instead of putting it on her paw to lick I just put a VERY small amount on my finger and put it on her gums, she ate it and soon she was using the bathroom. I only have to give it to her 2 other time the next following week and now over a month or so later she's doing PERFECT! she doesn't need anything for constipation anymore she's a happy healthy kitten now and Loves to play with her toys and New brother. The only thing is now I have a basicly Full tub of this stuff with no need for it anymore but I guess I have it if I ever need it again.

Very Good Product
So, my ragdoll cat has been puking up hairballs off and on over the last few months. Over time, it became more frequent and now has become a daily occurrence. And of course, since all cats seem to manage to hold in their pukes until they can reach the carpet, they also leave those horrible puke stains that, for the life of me, can't get out of the carpet. I finally found this Cat Lax 2 and hoped for the best. The package was delivered on a Sunday, which was awesome. I love when our deliveries are not delayed by the weekend. I gave my cat the recommended dosage first by putting some on my finder and letting him smell it. He wouldn't go for it. The instructions say that if your cat won't take it, to put some on their paw so they can lick it off. I tried that but it looked like he was going to take off and leave tracks all over the house. So I had to wipe it off his paw and instead I just put some directly in the back of his mouth. The first day, he puked. I gave it to him again the next day...he puked. BUT, by the third day, he stopped puking. I gave him a dose daily for the first 5 days. After that, I've been giving it to him every couple of days. It's been a couple of weeks now and he hasn't coughed up any hairballs! He's not thrilled with the taste of it, meaning he won't take it on his own, but it isn't hard for me to give it to him and only takes a second. All in all, I'm very happy with this product and recommend it if your cat is having problems with hairballs. Here is a picture of my cat.

Cat scarfs it down - possibly helps with constipation...
My cat is pooping in the house every week or two and seems really constipated. Here's what we tried, how much my cat liked it, and how much it seemed to work: Laxatone - He loved it at first and then refused it. It didn't work anyway. Cisapride (a motility enhancer - not a laxative - by prescription) - He loves the beef flavor, but it didn't work, even with an increased dosage. Lax'Aire - He absolutely loves the flavor, but it didn't work (maybe it would with a higher dosage but I ran out and now can't seem to find it anywhere). CatLax (this exact product) - He absolutely loves this one too - can't get enough. It didn't work with the regular dosage (1-1.5 inch per day for my 18 lb cat), so I doubled the dosage (hopefully it's safe to do). So far so good, but I'll post an update if if I find out that it doesn't work. If anyone has suggestions for getting my cat to go in the litter box or to further help his constipation problem, please help! We tried some of the cat-attract stuff that you put in the litter box and it didn't work. UPDATE - we found a solution! It's royal canin gastrointestinal care fiber control cat food. See my review there. Forget all of these constipation remedies. None of them seem to work, at least not well enough.

Best Formula, Cats Love It
My medium haired cat would vomit up huge hairballs very frequently. At the time I didnt even know products like these existed. The first product I got was from Walmart, it was a very cheap brand and although it had similar ingredients, the instructions were to give them 1-2 tablespoons. That just seems excessive to give to a cat, especially if theyre stubborn with what they eat. It would do its job but it was a pain to feed her those giant blobs of gel each time. My vet mentioned Cat Lax, and I immediately looked it up on amazon. It’s amazing. I only need a little bit on my finger and she loves the taste. Very reasonably priced and it works really well. Don’t remember the last time I’ve seen her gag or vomit.

Best hairball treatment and great for pills
Originally got this from our vet and my wife and I have been giving this to our cats since 1995. Our cats actually demand more than the recommended dosage--put some on a finger and the cats will quickly lick or even chew it off. Does an amazing job, totally or virtually eliminating hairballs, even by our long-haired Persian. (The brand changed years ago, but the cats never noticed. We use the only one available these days, made by Dechra.) Administering a daily steroid pill to one of our cats would be impossible without Cat Lax. If you've ever tried to give a cat a pill you understand! We cover the pill in Cat Lax and he swallows the whole thing, he even starts asking for the pill/Cat Lax if we're behind schedule. Really. Because we can't find Cat Lax in local stores, we have tried virtually all of the other hairball treatments we could find (Petromax, Laxatone, etc.), but Cat Lax is the only one our cats like and look forward to. We have two cats now, five since 1995, so we just order this stuff regularly. I'm not a spokesperson, but using a product that my cats actually love and is good for them compels me to let everyone know.

I have a long hair ragdoll that started pooping outside the litter box. I noticed his poop went from hard to very soft. Fast forward to him having explosive diaherria all over my floor and me clueing in that the problem wasn't him rejecting a less than perfectly clean litter box. A vet friend advised me that he was likely constipated from excessive summer grooming to cool down (he was also throwing up huge hairballs). Cat Lax works. Within three days of giving one dose a day, he was using the litter box normally again and had barfed zero hairballs. The taste appears to be tolerable but he will only eat it if I press it inbetween his front paw's toes. Then he grooms it away instantly with minimal fuss. The product is purple, smells like dates and feels like dates if they were made into paste. My advice is to put it on your cat's fron toes (really get it in there) and unleash the cat onto a non-fabric surface so you avoid purple paw prints on furniture or carpet. The picture is of my cat feeling much better after a few weeks of poop disasters. Excuse his paw, he is embarrassed.

While my cat is not enthusiastically licking this off my finger (I have to smear it onto her leg and wait for her to lick it off) this product does just what it says and helps her move things along. The product is extremely greasy and you really don't want it on your fabric furniture, but I assume this is what makes it work. Does the trick.

My poor sicky cat was constipated and this was recommended to me. She refused to consume it. When I put it on her paw, instead of licking it off, she folded her paw under her body and smooshed it on some fabric. Then I put it on the tip of her tail, which I assumed would be annoying enough to warrant licking off but nope. Keep in mind, this product is basically oil. I woke up to oil stains on my newly upholstered chairs so it was a fail.
