I got this for my 9-year-old daughter as she loves gems, stones, anything that is unusual and that you can dig up. She's had many different kits, but this one will be her first " Ocean life Excavation". It comes with a box so that you don't have a mess all over your table or work area. Out of all of the different kits she's had they never came with that. So that's a bonus. I love that you can make necklaces out of them or just store them in the velvet black bag that it comes with and they glow in the dark! Great effect!!

This digging set is a fun, interactive kit with a unique twist—the items are encased in resin and glow in the dark, which sets it apart from other kits we’ve tried. We decided to do this activity outside since the clay can get messy and create a lot of powder. To make it easier, we got the clay wet and used our own hammer because the small mallet included would have taken forever (and we don’t have that kind of patience!).However, my main issue with this set is the guidebook. The text is so tiny that it’s hard for me to read, let alone a child. On top of that, each section includes six different languages, and it took me a moment to figure out where the English version was. Considering this set is for ages 6 and up, the guidebook is neither user-friendly nor kid-friendly. I understand the need to appeal to a broader audience, but this design feels inconvenient and frustrating for its intended age group, especially when I'm trying to teach independent learning.

I got this for my 7 yr old daughter who loves doing dig kits. When I removed the plastic on the brick it did break apart for that I'm taking off half a star as she was still able to excavate most of it. Aside from that small issue it's a great set. It comes with the tools you need, a velvet storage pouch, necklace strings, information booklet and really cool amber encased bugs. She spent about half an hour digging through to find her treasures. Right now with sales and discounts it's priced at $11. It's a great deal for this.

This dig kit is the perfect way to keep kids screen free and able to get a little dirty in a safe environment. It has a slim block of clay where some resin sea fossils are buried for kids to dig out. There are tools for digging (only for one person but kids can share), 2 necklace cords for kids to make their own necklaces, and a guide book with explanations about the fossils. It's fun and electronic free, and educational as well. Win win!

This is the perfect gift for kids! Any kid that likes digging kits would love a kit like this!

I ordered these for my daughter. She has curiosity for science and animals. She loves all creatures of the sea! This was a very nice kit full of learning materials. Each of the amber pieces glows in the dark and it comes with string to create a necklace to wear. Excellent product, excellent learning opportunity, excellent value!

Super fun activity. My nephew and I did this together and we had the best time digging for all the Amber pieces and learning what each bug frozen inside them was.

This is a great amber digging set. It comes with all the tools to dig. My 7 and 10 year old daughter had a blast doing this activity. It also comes with necklace cords to make them into jewelry. It also has a book about the bugs. I love how the kids learn and have fun at the same time!

This dig kit comes with a bunch of amber covered insects. For most kids it is the digging and excavation part that is fun, and this does not disappoint. You can dig with reasonable ease, while still being a bit of a challenge.Once the fossil is removed it is more of a novelty, and the insect part of it depends on how much your kids are familiar with that kind of stuff. In my case they just were happy to get it from the kit and it went on the shelf. True realism in the hard work, patience and slog of true archaeology. I did this myself as an adult, and it took a while. I do have arm and hand weakness, so probably similar to a kid. It'll be fantastic for a kid who needs to hammer at stuff for a couple of hours.It is quite hard, and initially I considered getting a flat head screwdriver instead, but the wooden chisel does the job and stayed intact throughout the whole thing! Likewise, it also doesn't mark the resin necklace charms. One did look like I might have made a real mess of it, but I wiped it with a pad of isopropyl I happened to have near, which polished it up beautifully.It may seem easier to go from the bottom, but that will make it harder in the long run.Included is a full colour, glossy booklet which includes information on each flower contained within the "amber" and the country it bears importance to.I also was very surprised at how well contained the box kept the excavation rock. It was still pretty tidy on my desk around it after I'd finished.It may need an adult to start it off, but once it's close to a 'specimen' it's a lot easier to gently chisel and brush away. Photo 3 shows one that just broke off as it while I was chipping away on the other edge, but that was a one-off.The bag is excellent quality, and the specimens are pretty large, a couple of inches each.

Each piece of amber is pre-drilled, allowing them to be worn as necklaces. However, the kit includes only two necklace cords, a small drawback given that six fossils are included. Overall, it’s an enjoyable, educational set that offers a unique learning experience for kids.

Great activity for children with prizes at the end.The 'amber' pieces each contain a different preserved flower, and each has a pre-drilled hole. The hole is inevitably filled with the plaster material, so you will need a small needle or stick to poke it through if you want to thread it on a necklace.The block of plaster is very hard, and soaking it in water for a while makes it much easier to break into, especially for younger children. Spraying water over it also helps in tricky spots.
