Product description Lemna Minor is a floating freshwater aquatic plant, with one, two or three leaves each with a single root hanging in the water. It has roots of around 1-2cm and oval leaves of 1-8 mm long and 0.6-5 mm broad which are light green with three (rarely five) veins, and small air spaces to assist flotation. It propagates mainly by division. It grows in water with high nutrient levels and a pH of between 5 and 9, optimally between 6.5 and 7.5, and temperatures between 6 and 33C. Growth of colonies is rapid, and the plant can form a complete carpet across still pools when conditions are suitable. For use as a fish food simply remove a large portion of the plant from the surface, allow to dry and then grind it up over the water surface. It is very good at using up leftover nutrients and reducing algae growth. Once it populates a body of water too much it is very easy to remove by skimming the surface.
