I use corsair because I paid over 200 for it. It works!
My corsair shuts off by it self when your driving down the road kicks you off wifi so you have to set it up all over kinda tuff when driving. I thought pass thru would let you use the internet and access filles on the drive it don't. Pass thru is soft exit off the system. But other than that it's a 500gb wifi hard drive that works fine

Perfect Network Addition
The Corsair Voyager Air is not a solid state drive (SSD), but instead it has a spinning disk inside. I prefer this mechanical type of drive over the solid state external drives for holding audio that will be frequently streamed. Certain happenings have lowered my trust in the reliability of the nand gate with certain types of data. Although proving to be a real asset in speedy data transfer, there are still those areas where they are maybe not so great. Not to forget that drives with spinning disks show a longer service life, and are certainly adequate enough for streaming multimedia. It is unfortunate that the interviewers would give this drive a bad rap solely because the WiFi is not as secure as it could be. Basically, that's all these perfectionists could find to criticize about this drive, and even though I'm not in complete disagreement that a more secure WiFi is possible, it is not something that non-techy people would readily understand how to use. The drive could have indeed included an SSID specification and WPA2 Security and encryption, but not having all that is really not a problem for most of us, and Corsair even explains how to keep the inquisitive neighbor from tapping into your drive. There are no weak links in this unit, only those who would criticize without ever purchasing or attempting to use it productively within a network.Corsair didn't forget anything because in combination with the downloadable VoyagerAir app from Google Play for your Android device, there are several settings that allow full monitoring and some preventative measures such as disabling any editing of the drive over WiFi. There is so much more to say about this drive that will clearly show it to be a step above all the others.Choosing the WiFi component on the Voyager was an excellent choice over the other possibility that Bluetooth may have served as the means to access multimedia files wirelessly, and the WiFi performs admirably. WiFi notably does a better job of transferring multimedia files to multiple devices and shows much more versatility when you expect the very best possible playback. Still, the WiFi provision was only a minor consideration for me to purchase this drive, but am sure to get plenty of use from it since it does absolutely work so well.External hard drives designed with a RJ45 Ethernet connection are rare, and this component is what connects the drive to a network whether using a router or WiFi unit. It is as secure as your home or business network. The really magical component is the ON/OFF Switch. How INGENIOUS! This wonderful little switch is an addition that would make working with any external drive so much easier. Now I'm really spoiled after having it available and using it.Rarer yet is an external drive that offers a choice between connecting with USB 3.0 or Ethernet. If you want the drive available to multiple PCs in your network, then connect using Ethernet. If you prefer keeping the drive isolated to one particular PC only, then connect it using the USB 3.0 provision. Again, ingenious! Here's the best part. Can the Voyager Air be connected to a PC wirelessly using WiFi for playback and file transfer without the VoyagerAir app? Yes indeed it can, and all the files are readily available for playback using the multimedia components installed on the PC.And finally, running the Voyager in WiFi mode doesn't require any wired connection because, as intended for its portability, Corsair also included a battery that will provide 7 hours of uninterrupted service. It will also keep streaming multimedia while charging, and so Corsair included both a car and a wall charging device in the box.So, if you already run an external hard drive or are thinking about doing so, then I absolutely recommend that you give the Corsair Voyager Air some thought for your next purchase. The advancements and the versatility of this unit make it excellent addition and worthwhile investment for any computer system.

the instructions are nonexistent at best and the interface that is in the Apple app ...
The hard drive itself is probably alright, however, the instructions are nonexistent at best and the interface that is in the Apple app store does not do what the minimal instructions say it does. I had to download a third-party app to get it to work. Also, the battery does not seem to last the supposed 7 hours, seems to be about 4.5 or maybe 5 with only one user. How could they claim 7 hours and 5 users? What is that, 45 minutes per user? The recharge time is also extremely long. At least I didn't lose the wifi signal as I did with Seagate's hard drive. I contacted the phone number on a Sunday and left a message with my phone number but have not heard back in more than 2 weeks. I will try their phone support at a later time when I am less angered by their lack of explicit instructions and good interfaces. No FAQs came close to satisfying the problem.

A very good option for a wireless HD
I studied all the reviews including seagate and patriot and what I knew I wanted/needed. My work took away a provided Ipad which we used extensively for travel entertainment internationally when no wifi was available. To replace it I got a refurb Ipad 3rd gen with 16 gb, and went with the 500 gb voyager air.It came very quickly in a new box. It had some charge on the battery, so it only took an hour to completely charge it. It only took me about 20 minutes to put 20 gb of movies and music on the Voyager through a usb 2 port. It streams well from 15 feet away and is very easy to set up. Be sure to load an ios or android device with the free app to change the password. I have not tested the passthrough wifi yet but that is next. The build quality is very good to me. it came with a US prong charger and car plug, but did not come with the Euro type plugs. I assume they should be easy to get. I specifically picked this one because it can plug via ethernet into a router as a form of NAS but I have not tested this yet either. Overall very pleased with my choice and specifically how easy it was to set up and use.update 7-25-2013- I tested the passthrough wifi and it works just fine. I used it as a range extender at my sons house. I also tested it streaming 3 movies at once from 15 feet away. I used an ipad 3, galaxy note 2, and a win 8 netbook. All 3 streamed great with minimal to no stuttering.

I'm not satisfied with its i-pad application.
I bought 500 GB model and expected to see hundreds of movies on my i-pad 2 without using i-tunes or copying from this product. However Corsair i-pad software does not support from the air-playing and only way to see the movies in the Corsair drive is copying from it.Transferring in air (with WiFi connection) is quite slow and I have to wait about 10 minutes to download a movie.Sometimes 'open with' is not compatible with my existing i-pad apps and remains some garbage in my i-pad.I usually use it as a network drive or USB drive in my home and it works good with my old Windows XP based notebook. These are my conclusion : many functions, flimsy apps.

Great streamer but limited capability
This device can stream music for you to iPads, etc. but you cannot use it as a regular network drive to share files between PCs. This was a huge let down for me and I had to return it.

Great for serving movies on long roadtrips
Works as mentioned on packaging. Serves up my mkv movies to the kids tablets, no more buying cheesy car dvd players. Read directions carefully...requires full 12v power via usb to charge and power the unit (just use the supplied adapter).Con: Only gripe is that the wireless takes around two minutes to be ready for connections, yet it advertises as ready as soon as you turn it on. This leads to authentication errors on my kids tablets, forcing you to have to reattempt to connect once it really IS ready after the two minutes . Minor but annoying.
