I want to buy this for my mum, is it good for food shopping?

Yes it's ideal for food shopping. Both my mum and I have one and that's exactly what we use them for. Pack heavier items at the bottom.

The image shows a zipped pocket on the back of the item, but having just bought one, there isn't one. Can anyone tell me if there should be one?

Hi Just like you I thought there was a pocket on the back but this isnt so. This is simply a velcro strap which holds the cover in place. I must say I greatly miss a pocket. Handy for brolly etc.

Can this be hooked onto a supermarket trolley to carry it round whilst doing the shopping?

Yes, it can. I suspend mine on the hook at the back of a large (to lift the Rolser’s own wheels clear of the ground) Marks & Spencer trolley and it hangs conveniently on the triangular piece at the side of the handle of a Tesco trolley. The Rolser enables me to walk back home from shopping with a heavy load.
