Great Curriculum
My daughter's college courses use this curriculum. One question I always wonder is whether one edition is better than another. In the case of this curriculum, the answer is yes. This edition is much better than the previous edition. The publisher made good improvements and my daughter has learned a lot from this curriculum and her courses.

Not a good textbook
Regurgitated material, vocabulary index contain only words covered in the previous textbooks; the new words are not included, and one must remember in which lesson to look for them. And the traditional text distracts and takes half the book. Also, no pinyin with the lesson texts. The audio has a feature to go at slower speed, but it’s not a person speaking slowly, it’s just the recording and it drags incomprehensibly. Pretty pricey for such poorly put together textbook.

Overly Priced & Overly Political
This textbook is really overpriced. Seriously, will the publishers just relax with the money grab? The book is also really problematic with its politics. It has a clear political agenda which is inappropriate for a language textbook. Cant we just learn Chinese? For instance it has a chapter about environmental protection that overlooks the environmental issues in the PRC. If they are going to try to get the book past PRC censors, maybe just avoid touchy subjects entirely instead of providing misinformation.
