Sweet little laptop
This is a discontinued item from HP, but if you're considering purchasing one don't let that stop you. (HP - If you read this, please don't phase out the Mini line completely.)Ordered this to replace a prior HP Mini that I used for two years before the boot record became corrupt and it wouldn't recognize the hard drive and I couldn't get it to change the boot sequence in the bios to boot to the recovery disks I'd made. (BTW - I ordered one of these sabrent USB 2.0 TO SATA/IDE 2.5/3.5/-INCH Hard Drive Converter With Power Supply & LED Activity Lights (USB-DSC5 from Amazon and got all my stuff off the old Mini) I was completely satisfied with the old Mini and I can't see any reason why I won't love this one just as well. One thing I do love about this new unit is Windows 7 Home Premium. The old one had Windows 7 Starter on it. That was adequate, but Home Premium is better.Spent about a full day, day and a half getting all the software installed that I use and removing the bloatware that comes with any new system. (I must say, this one came with very little of what I'd consider bloatware.) That may seem excessive, but I'm an IT professional and I'm VERY picky about how my system is setup. All of the software I use daily loaded and runs well on the Mini 1104. Just as well, in fact, as on my desktop at work.I like everything about this system. For a small form factor it works remarkably well, especially as a grab and go laptop. About the only thing I don't like is the track pad, but I don't care for those anyway. Couple this unit with a USB keyboard and mouse (which I use with my full size laptop, too) and I'm good to go. And the only reason I like a full size USB keyboard is for the function keys when I'm in 5250 emulation mode. I can get by with the 1104's keyboard, but an external is just handier. One last thing, my order was fulfilled by pcrush-outlet. Absolutely no complaints with them. Item was shipped in stellar fashion and the unit arrived several days before I expected it to.

Defective product. Terrible customer service.
Purchased the HP Mini 1104 netbook from Universal Mania through Amazon. Upon receipt I discovered that the netbook screen flickered erratically with the movement of the mouse or any other operation. After contacting Amazon with my concern I was directed to the company which informed me that they did not handle repairs or returns for replacement or refund for netbook computers. I was informed that I should know not to request such support for items such as this and then told to contact the manufacturer. I guess I thought when you purchase something from a company, it would function properly... and if it didn't they would make good on the purchase. As for the product, I suppose if it worked, I might consider writing a positive review. Thanks, Universal Mania, for showing me how a terrible company operates and helping me learn the hard way which netbook NOT to buy!

HP Mini 1104
This is the second one of these I have purchased, I always find it to be a learning event when I have not used the extra small keypad. I find the processor is a little slow.My wife loves it as she is able to put it in her purse and pull it out when convenient.

Be cautious at best
Extremely slow, which I thought would happen with these specs. But what I did not expect was the Wifi not working AND there being plastic frayed bits at the top of the keyboard. I notified the seller and they argued with me that these things were not possible. I sent it back and I fully expect them to charge me the $40 restocking fee for "not wanted" even though it was wanted, but in working order. I am moving abroad very soon and simply dont have time to argue-I need a functioning travel laptop now. I went back to a Chromebook. I do not recommend this item or seller.

Good buy for professional use
Most 10.1 netbooks now are stripped down with the minimum memory, Windows 7 starter, no bluetooth, etc. I found that this one was recently released by HP for schools and offices (they don't list it in their home on line catalog). I have had it for less than a week and the set up went very well. The printed instructions we very basic and the on-line manuals (two--start up and reference) are general for many models and don't have some of the details I would like to have. I found that going from XP to Windows 7 wasn't as hard as I thought. There were a few things it took some time to find, but for the most part Windows 7 is more logical than earlier verisons. I am still trying to figure out which programs to remove that were added. However, it didn't seem HP put that many extra programs as compared with some companies. I did remove the Norton Antivirus and put my copy of Norton 360 which I had with 3 computer license. I plan to install the Apache Open Office and not the inclosed (to buy) Microsoft Office....I might use the Office Starter version (vs. purchase or activate an existing license).Once I got it set up I did make a Repair Disk with my external DVD Drive and then did a System Image (mirror) backup on my external hard drive. I like the LED screen and the slightly (93%) smaller keyboard seems to be no problem. I bought my first netbook almost four years ago and got a Toshiba because it had a full key board. Unfortunately, the Toshiba netbook died....the motherboard and it was better to get a new one rather than the expense of reparing. There were some other mini computers which looked good and had good specs, but they were 11.6 inch which will not fit cross wise in my briefcase, so I needed to stay with the 10.1 inch. This one seems to be a professional version of the 10.1 netbooks. So far, I am very happy with it.

Wouldn’t purchase again
I returned the item due to the laptop not being able to not only connect to internet but also the operating system was outdated and appeared to be “copied.” Bought as an Xmas gift for our daughter and she was highly disappointed with the product received 2!
