Iwata-Medea High Performance Plus B: Product Review
The Iwata-Medea High Performance Plus B model is an airbrush designed for minute detail airbrushing tasks. I purchased this specific airbrush to enhance my plastic model fine detail painting capabilities. This airbrush is excellent for painting mottled camouflage patterns on WWII German and IJN military aircraft models. It is also excellent for painting complex intricate camouflage patterns on WWII German armor models when necessary. Although the paint cup is smaller than Iwata's HP Plus C model, I was disappointed to see that this HP Plus B model did not include a paint cap. The HP Plus B model also has the H2 needle/nozzle system with a 0.2 mm nozzle. Iwata airbrushes in general are high quality airbrushes, that if well maintained, are capable of excellent performance and long-lasting durability. This is a highly recommended airbrush for fine scale modelers, railroad modelers, war gaming miniaturists, and graphic artists of all skill levels.

I always wanna iawata!
This is my 5th IWATA & maybe my favorite. It is easiest to clean,a big plus. It has a perfect weight/balance/action. I vow to takebetter care of..as dropped my last brush & dented the cup. It justfeels right in hand, great control & most of all..media applicationis spot on!! FYI: Works well mated with California Air Tools QUIET aircompressor.

Love it
I am a horrible painter. But this helps a ton in my models. Sprays great if you follow procedures. Easy to clean. Even I am learning how to paint small items. Nice finish.I really enjoy it. I will use my Revolution for primers and big stuff. This for everything else!

Lives up to expectations
I've been using an Iwata HP-BCS for many years now and was looking for an upgrade that would help with creating finer detail. The High Performance Plus B provides the three features I was looking for, a smaller color cup, a smaller nozzle/finer needle, and a needle-stop. The airbrush worked perfectly, right out of the box. Pricey, yes. It is more expensive than a general-purpose model, yet much less than their Custom Micron series, and provides the features I was looking for. The Iwata-Medea airbrushes are known for excellent and consistent quality. This one is no exception.

Like it, just not loving it.
I like it, I'm not head over heels in love with it. The body, the grip, and the finish are all great. Really appreciate the needle limiter so I dont over spray delicate parts. I also like the long nose that lets me see over the airbrush cup when I get in tight. But that nozzle...I'm never a fan of soldered in nozzles. It makes the brush inherently harder to clean. You can pull the needle through the front, thus risking getting paint in the body. Also the price was kind of higher than expected compared to an Iwata Eclipse or similarly performing Badger Sotar 2020. All in all if this had a threadless nozzle or were $30 cheaper, it would be an instant recommend. I dont regret buying the brush though.

Its an Iwata.
Its Iwata quality as you would expect. The 2mm nozzle is perfect for my needs. Easy to clean and very well balanced.

Absolute paint control
I have two other Iwatas and they perform perfectly, good weight in your hands and absolute control on paint flow. Adding this brush was a perfect addition to my group and brushes.

Came messed up
Packaging was perfect when arrived but inside the box the super lube was broken and lubricant was all over everything. The Iwata test strip you get with a new gun wasn’t in the box and the needle was bent. Probably a refurbished one
