High quality and a great teaching set for kids!
The Mr. Men 40th Anniversary Box Set is fantastic! I remember reading these as a kid in the 90s, and this set captures the same fun, charm, and quality I loved back then, but now I get to share it with my nephew! The books are very high quality, sleek, and fun, making them perfect for young readers. They’re not just entertaining, they’re also a great way to teach and engage a child. This set brings nostalgia for adults while creating new memories for the next generation. Highly recommend!

Simple, yet perfect
I was not familiar with the “mr” and “little miss” books from growing up, but my husband happened to mention them to me and indicated they were one of his favorites as a child. His sister said the same thing, so I decided we’d try them in our house. Needless to say, my kids are now 2nd generation fans. The books are smaller, which is great for younger kids to grab, hold, and thumb through without too much of a challenge. These are also a very nice quality print and bind and look brand new after having two toddlers and now preschoolers use them for over a year, even after reading them numerous times. The illustrations are bright and simple which is what I think is so appealing to my girls. See my pics for examples. It gives them less to focus on so they can just enjoy the faces and story. In fact, my younger daughter still refers to every smiley face she sees as Mr. Happy. Each story has a pleasant ending or moral, but they’re not preachy. These would be a fantastic teaching tool. I’ve already bought extra copies to give as gifts. And the price on amazon is awesome. For the amount of stories and quality of the book I’d easily pay $30 wth no regrets.

Great set of great little books
Roger Hargreaves' Mr. Men are a classic series of little children's books from England. This set contains some of the best - Mr. Tickle, Mr. Bump, Mr. Greedy, Mr. Messy etc. - and they're nicely packaged as hardbacks making them much more durable than the more common thin paperbacks. These are a great read. Wonderful bedtime stories (each is a short book, read in just a few minutes) and the illustrations are adorable and entertaining. The stories themselves are well paced, include good use of repetitive phrases (these are great to read aloud) that kids love, and are often amusing (Mr. Greedy being forced to eat a literally giant-sized plate of food is nicely twisted). Overall, this is a great set of books. The hardback covers really add to the durability and given that the paperbacks go for $3 to $4 each, a set of 10 for around $20 is an excellent deal. These would make an excellent gift for a baby shower or for any young child.

Classic stories in a new box set
Like many people, I enjoyed these books growing up and wanted to share them with my son who is now 11 months old. The books come in a very sturdy box that can be used as storage. They are very sturdy hard-cover with thick, printed on glossy paper stock. You can tell a lot of thought was put into the design of these books - the colour of the binding paper in each book matches the colour of the story's main character. For those not familiar with this series, each book tells the story of a particular Mr. ____ who's name coincides with a particular trait they possess (Mr. Sneeze can't stop sneezing, Mr. Bump is injury-prone, Mr. Happy is perpetually happy, etc.) The story typically shows how the character manages their every-day life, and how their distinct condition impacts upon it. They often show how the character overcomes detrimental behaviour or learns to embrace it and seek positive results. The author, Roger Hargreaves, was English, and the books are a bit dated (first published in early 1970's), so I expected there to be words or concepts that aren't as common for modern North American readers. Except for the occasional telephone, the stories translate to present day quite well. Perhaps for older readers this will be a fun exercise: looking up what a telephone is, or a pot of marmalade. One think I will mention about the physical books themselves, the corners were made a bit sharp, so be careful with younger children. After my kid got a knick on his face, I took to blunting them all with a wooden spook.

Great little series
I have no idea why, but my daughter LOVES this series. We originally had a couple of Little Miss books someone gave me. When I started homeschooling, I pulled one out for an assignment. She liked them so much, I bought a set of Mr. Men AND Little Miss. For my daughter, these books allowed her to read with alot of independence, while still introducing some new vocabulary (Little Miss Contrary springs to mind as an example). Just for a reference point, my daughter was an advanced reader in public school, and we started started these books at the beginning of 1st grade. If you happen to homeschool, the books work really well as a platform (we had discussions and examples of when she was contrary, things she did that were NOT contrary, whether that was positive or negative, etc.). I will be keeping the series to continue with her 2 younger sisters when they start school. Best way to get kids to read is great material, and this set worked very well for our purposes.
