Identical or better quality than Ziploc, which I replaced with these
I have been packing up summer shirts to store, and using real ziploc bags. When I ran out, I ordered these on Amazon because I could get them same day. Well, I was REALLY pleasantly surprised. These are exactly the same thickness as Ziploc's slider bags, but there were FEWER issues with the slide. Within 2 days, I went through 100 Ziploc sliders, and roughly 40 of these Amazon generic bags so far. The Ziplocs I bought at a big box store. I don't know how anyone can say these don't compare to the brand names, this was a head to head comparison with brand new Ziploc sliders (STORAGE sliders, not Freezer) vs these Amazon bags, and these were cheaper and had fewer 'bad' bags. I also purchased Glad bags (they were the 'stretch' type) at the same time from Amazon, and these are way stronger than the Glad bags, which kept tearing at the top seams (above the zip part). I'd love to know which brand names are better than these, because it's sure not Glad or Ziploc... and these are cheaper than any of them. Will definitely buy again! Hope this helps.

Just as good as the name brands
Every bit as good as “Z!pL*ck” or ”GL¥D” plastic baggies! My family uses a lot of these each month, and we’ve been quite happy with them—especially the quality and lower price! I care for a parent suffering from a rare form of dementia. You may think, “What’s that got to do with plastic baggies?!” I’ll tell you. Here’s one of my all-time best, a truly great “life hack” I’ve learned from caring for an aging parent suffering from both memory loss & diminishing motor function, as well as severe osteoarthritis—ALWAYS BUY THE BAGGIES WITH THE ZIPPER TOPS!! My mom can no longer grip the tops of the old “yellow + blue makes green” zipl*ck baggies to adequately seal them closed. That inevitably leads to spills, leaks, messes and a good bit of grief (not to mention swearing!) as a result. The answer was to stop buying the old fashioned pinch-to-close baggies in favor of the kind with the plastic zipper across the top to ensure ease of proper closure/seal. They’re 100% worth the extra cost—even though Amazon’s Solimo brand is more cost-effective (yay!) than the nat’l brands, I’ll happily spend more for the zipper tops from now on, because they save me time from having to clean up messes resulting from the failures of regular old z!pl*ck bags. I promptly added these to our monthly subscribe-and-save! Thanks for another great lower cost alternative, Amazon! And I hope that anyone who bothers to read this (lengthy) review finds it helpful. :-)

Slightly different, great value
These gallon size bags are gusseted. They have a flat bottom which is wonderful when you're filling it up with food because it stands up and stays open. It is a bit shorter than Ziploc brand, but also a bit wider, so it has the same volume (1 gallon). The slider is fantastic, because my 84 year old mother can't reliably seal the regular ones. The slider also has a little notch that you go over to make sure it's locked closed, which is a neat little extra feature. There's a white spot to write on. I bought the regular bags, not the freezer ones. I double bagged anything I froze, and have not had any problems with freezer burn. And I reuse the outside bag when the inside one is empty. I went on vacation and put many items in bags, and did not get a single hole. I reuse those bags over and over. These are absolutely comparable to the name brand. Just be aware of the shape difference. I can cut a giant Italian bread into 4 pieces and they fit in the bag without having to mush anything to close it because of the gusset. When I first saw that they were a bit shorter, I wasn't happy. But then I saw how convenient it was that they actually had a flat bottom, and now I prefer them. Definitely a good buy.

Pretty Good, But Definitely Not Top Quality
I'm on the fence about whether these should get 3 or 4 stars. I like the slider and the vented bottom, but that's about it. They're good for short-term use, because the slider/seal mechanism just does not hold up. These bags get pretty gentle use around here (no kids), and I'd say that the slider is good for about 20 open/close cycles. And if you pull it just a bit too far, it's over sooner than that -- and I mean even a teeny-tiny bit too far, and the bag will never seal again. There's no way to get the slider "back on track," and there's no way (that I've figured out) to get the bag to seal without the slider. If you're mostly using these for sandwiches, they'll be fine. I like to use them for storage and organization, and I need to get into them pretty regularly, sometimes several times a day, and they're just not cutting it for me. As I've seen other reviewers say, I did save some money getting these, but I'd rather pay a bit more for higher quality next time.

WELL MADE, DECENT PRICE
What I DO like: zip lock slider and that they have a pleated bottom so they stand up. What I DON'T like: sometimes the zip lock slider comes off and you cannot thread it back on, so you end up throwing the bag away. What I DON'T like: EXPENSIVE for the amount of bags in the box!

Want a cheaper alternative to the Ziploc brand bag?
The Good: -Great value compared to Ziploc -Leak proof from what I’ve tested (done a bunch of marinating) -Slider is durable and slides easily The Bad: -Slightly thinner than the Ziploc brand but I haven’t noticed any durability issues The Bottom Line: I use a lot of gallon size bags from marinating meat to using them for travel. I haven’t had any issues with leaking or durability issues. I just got back from Alaska and needed to use a bag for ice to ice my ankle and there was no leakage. It also passed my full the bag with air and close the bag to see if air escapes (it didn’t leak any air). I would say these bags are slightly thinner than the Ziploc brand but as I said I didn’t notice any difference in durability. Overall I would recommend these Amazon zip lock bags as an alternative to the Ziploc brand.
