You will not have cell service in many of the locales that this book covers. It describes to micro detail many of the finest coastal locations on earth. Must investment for those traveling by car.

As a biologist in the Bay Area for the last 15 years, I've tried to find a comprehensive guide to the area. There are books that cover plants and animals, but I wanted more. Now, I've found it! This book covers more information than you might think at first glance. It has information about wildlife and geology as well as other things to do in the area. It's great for people coming to visit and for those of us that already live here.This book would also be a great resource for any field course for a variety of areas. There is a great intro on with information on tide-pool etiquette, brings dogs to beaches, watching wildlife, etc. I am thinking to use it for my intro biology course next semester.I can't wait to look at the rest in the series!
