I bought a second one. Recommend.
Works as expected. I think of it as primarily an A/C unit (it cools more effectively than it heats, but the heat does work). For heat, it seems to seamlessly reverse the heat exchange output so that the cold air goes outside and the warm air blows out of the front (reverse air-conditioning). It's a thermostat-controlled warm heat. It's not hot-hot air. It's warm to very-warm air. It has been good for supplemental heat in winter. The fan power is very good. The cooling works quite well in the summer. I find the noise level acceptable. The remote is handy. Timer function is useful. I'm pleased enough with it that I now have two.

Quieter than others and easy to set up
12,000 BTU Unit - This is the 3rd floor model air conditioner I’ve purchased and I love it. The packaging was very sturdy. Heavy cardboard box, thick styrofoam padding and nylon straps outside the box protected the unit which was delivered in perfect condition. Unpacking was a breeze. One of the things I love about this unit is the exhaust hose is a heavy, more rigid plastic material that easily snaps into the unit. Other units like this came with flimsy exhaust hoses that needed to be stretched over the exhaust port. I always ended up buying heavier hoses and attaching them with large steel “worm” clamps. Not necessary with the SereneLife unit. The window insert is not as tall as others so it allows more visibility out the window but because of the size and characteristics of my window I had to raise it with a 1” board cut to fit the sill. I also had to trim about 4” from the slide out part for it to fit in my sill. Not a big deal. Took me a minute with my table saw but could easily be done with a hand saw. On a positive note, if you have a very wide window this will fit with no extra work. Also there is a tab to lock the slide expander j to place. I’ve never seen this on previous units. A convenient feature. Now to the important stuff - cooling the house… The unit easily cools my L-shaped living / dining room area as well as the attached kitchen. That’s about 1000 sq ft.. I do have 2 ceiling fans running at slow speed to help circulate the cool air. It is MUCH quieter than previous units I’ve owned. There is a feature that allows the cool air directors to slowly oscillate up and down. I don’t use it but you may find it beneficial. It has a sleek appearance that is aesthetically pleasing. The price was very reasonable for such a powerful, effective air conditioner. Now I’ll mention a few negative issues… 1. There is no screen to cover the outside end of the exhaust port. Depending on where your window is critters and debris can easily find its way into the hose. I’m going to make a screen cover for it. 2. The remote is pretty flimsy and there is no display. My other units had remotes that displayed the same info that is in the unit display. Also the lettering of the functions of the remote buttons is really tiny. 3. As stated, the window unit is very low profile and very wide. Depending on the design of your window you may have to raise the window insert and/or trim the width of the slide expander. All easy things to do but know that it’s possible. All and all I’m very pleased.

Almost the perfect unit
This portable AC unit came so close to being a perfect 5-star product, and I’m genuinely sad I can’t in good conscience give it that last star. Everything about the performance is fantastic: it looks sleek, it cools my new apartment far better than my old unit ever did, and the WiFi connectivity is a great bonus; being able to adjust settings from my phone is incredibly convenient. Best of all, it’s whisper-quiet. My box fan is louder than this AC, which is impressive. So why only 4 stars? The hose connections. The included window inserts technically work, but the design is frustrating. The hose adapters are the same size, so you can’t connect them directly... you have to use a third extender piece that pushes the hoses farther apart. That’s fine if you have a large window, but I have a smaller one, and I needed the opposite: the hoses closer together. Unfortunately, there’s no way to nest or adjust them, so I ended up stuffing materials around the inserts to hold them in place and block air leaks. It works, but it looks janky and feels like a big oversight for such a pricey unit. Overall, the cooling power, quiet operation, and smart features make this a fantastic AC — but the poorly thought-out hose connection system drags down what could have been a flawless product.

Works great, noise is a byproduct of it working great..stop crying
Ok this is one MEAN ass protable AC unit. Is it noisy? Sure but it does NOT by any means erase medium to medium high volume from an HDVTs lame a$$ stock speakers lol. Look, this thing works. It's not quiet. What AC unit that cools well is? Ppl crying like babies about the noise. Get over it. I watch TV while it's on and it's great. Ppl are soft. Asking too much from a good product. Buy this, it makes normal AC noise. Don't like the noise? Cool using it and leave, come back turn it off to watch TV. Bottom line, You get awesome cooling. That's what it is. No nonsense. Have no time for snowflake ppl reviewing.

I was going to give this 3 stars but the Air conditioner itself is really good. It was getting warm in evening since the apartment heats up during the day. Once I finally hooked the hose up (which was a pain due to the window kit size) then turned it on, it did not take long to cool the apartment. A few things I will mention here. 1 - Ignore the bad reviews saying this is very loud. ALL air conditioners are loud, no matter what. I’ve used a few window ones and I have friends that have portable ones. Air conditioners have a motor and they will always be loud. This unit is not as loud as I thought it was going to be from all the bad reviews. It is actually a decent loudness compared to some other air conditioners out there. My old window one was a bit louder. 2 - This one is just a heads up when you see the warranty/rebate card. It comes with a warranty card which does give you a warranty, however, on the card it says you get a $25 rebate. I was excited and finally went to register and got the warranty and then I applied for the rebate and it said I would not get the rebate because the rebate is only available to residents of USA. I live in Canada so I can’t get the rebate. They should have put that on the card that came in the box cause it gets you happy that your getting a rebate until you register online. 3 - This one was the issue that really bothered me. The window plate that fits in the window to cover the screen and lets you add the hose from the air conditioner to the plate is not a great size. It is longer than some of the ones you can get from Amazon. It comes with an extension but a couple of my windows where I need it won’t fit properly. The one window is smaller than most windows you have in apartments which is fine but the plate is too long for it so I could not use it. I searched online for a window kit and could not find one proper. I had to finally use the box it came in to cut the size of the window, then tape the plate to the box and then cut a hole in the box and then tape it really good to the window frame to hold the box and plate to the window to hook the hose up because once I added the hose, it tried to pull the cardboard away from the window. Got it to work even though it does not look the greatest with all the tape holding it. The other window I had In my bedroom, the plate fits, however, not long enough. I added the extension and then the extension piece would not slide big enough without covering the hole in the plate where the hose goes so I cannot use it there. My biggest point here is they should have made the plate shorter with maybe a third plate to make up for the shorter plate. That would have made things a lot easier. This plate seems to not work well so depending on your window, you may either need to cover some of your window somehow or get a different window kit if it does not work. Just a heads up. The air conditioner itself works great so far so that’s why I gave it 4 stars. I would recommend this product, just be prepared in case some window adjustments are needed in order to hook up the hose piece properly. Sorry long review but I want to be honest and be clear about this unit.
