Essential, easy-to-use water purifier with no installation required
The AquaTru Carafe Countertop Water Purifier has become an essential part of my daily life. I use it for every glass of water I drink. Its simple, straightforward operation makes it very easy to live with, and it’s especially well suited for apartment dwellers since it requires no plumbing or permanent installation. Despite being a countertop unit, it uses standard, easy-to-replace filters, which I really appreciate. Filter changes are simple and don’t feel proprietary or overcomplicated. For renters, this makes long-term ownership much less of a hassle. Water quality is where this system really stands out. The city I live in heavily overcompensates for known bacteria issues, which causes tap water to smell and taste strongly of chlorine. The AquaTru removes both the taste and odor completely. The difference is immediate and very noticeable, resulting in clean, neutral-tasting water. I also really like the glass carafe. It looks good on the counter, feels solid and pleasant to handle, and helps reduce my concerns about microplastics in drinking water compared to plastic containers. After daily use, I’ve picked up a few tips that make ownership even smoother: 1. Always fully empty and rinse the intake tank before refilling it. Some water remains after filtering, but it’s dirty water from the filtration process and should be discarded. 2. Remove the carafe before placing the tank back onto the unit to avoid fighting the vacuum pressure created by the pump. 3. Make sure all filters are fully seated before operating the purifier. Overall, this is a well-designed, reliable countertop water purifier that delivers excellent results without installation hassles. If you’re dealing with unpleasant-tasting tap water and want a simple, apartment-friendly solution, the AquaTru Carafe is absolutely worth it.

Great counter purifier.
This purifier works really well. The water tastes good and it filters it very quickly. We are a two person household and even then, we have to refill it fairly often, but it's very easy to do. It's a natural routine for us now. I wish the carafe was a little thicker. The first unit we bought arrived with the carafe completely broken. Why a company doesn't package their product better, I don't know. We were sent a quick replacement however so we are happy. It is super easy to set up and it doesn't take up anymore counter space than a coffee maker would. That's good for us, because we rent and an under the counter system wouldn't work for us.

Easy to set up. Size of a midsize coffee maker. Love the taste. Should of purchased this sooner !
Update - 4/15/ 2025 I replaced my PRE filter on 4-14-25 and my VOC filter on 4-15-25.That is just a little over 6 month life span for those 2 filters. My water is considered moderately hard. It in my opinion a 6 month life span for 6 carafes filtered daily is a good performance. I just purchased the descaling Kit and have yet to use it. My Carafe is still preforming well, with no issues _____________________________ Update since I have received it Purchased during October Prime Day 2024 Still, nothing to complain about. The unit is a nice size for my counter. It still makes great-tasting water. To the manufacturer - Can you make the unit in Blue? How about a stainless steel carafe top instead of a plastic top? (My Opinion) The cost of filters on Amazon is overpriced. Why so expensive? Go to the manufacturer's website, they are less expensive, pick yourself up a few 3-set filter replacements Background. Tap water drinker dislikes the taste and cost of bottled water but also hate the taste of tap water. Pain in the butt to reclaim deposits on bottle empties. Try not to be subjected to Microplastic particles where I can help it. Uses an ample amount of Lemon and Lime juice to kill the chlorine smell and lousy taste of my tap water. Took advantage of the prime deal for this water purifier and am extremely happy with the results and difference made to what I am now drinking. The taste and smell of my tap water is night and day. I'm so excited, and happy that I have been processing large batches of purified water and handing out samples to others to try. Pros Easy to set up. Small form factor- the size of a mid-size coffee maker. Cartridges snap right in Time to purify after the initial 4 x flushing is pretty quick Great tasting water without the plastic water bottles and required need to recycle Will eliminate my need for lemon or lime juice My water no longer smells like my pool was just treated ! Cons I can find nothing to complain about Things to Know. There is a small amount of waste water produced for each batch purified that must be discarded but let us put this in perspective. You no longer have to purchase water in plastic bottles (that is good for the environment and your pocket ) No need for costly water subscriptions or lugging home cases of water or bottles I got all three replacement filters for 54.00 dollars with additional tax and shipping If you feel bad dumping the wastewater back into the sink you can find useful things to use it for like plant water.

Works great *IF* you have a pitcher
I am updating my review. I can no longer recommend the AquaTru carafe. I reached out to cs and let them know that cycles were no longer running when I refill the tank and put the carafe in place. I have to unplug and replug to get it to run a cycle. They said I need to descale the unit???? Nowhere on the product page does it say descaling is part of the maintenance. Also it says you should replace the RO filter when you descale. No way on earth am using a RO machine that I have to descale and replace the RO filter every 4 months. I would strongly advise against this machine. RO filter should last two years. I'm going back to my tried and true rkin zip filter. They wouldn't even fix this under warranty...which makes it terrible product support in my book. ********** I have been using a tabletop RO system for the better part of a decade. I decided to get a new system because mine was old and full of hard water stains. I was drawn to this one because of the upfront cost, compact size and pitcher. My last unit was extremely reliable and worked great but one thing I hated was I had to basically collect the water in a bowl and transfer it to a pitcher because the spout was too close to the counter to fit anything underneath other than a highball glass. I also was attracted to the pitcher being glass because i just don’t like my water sitting in plastic. Pro’s 1. Easy to set up 2. The pitcher is very convenient to just grab fill up a glass, bottle, espresso machine etc. 3. Works great at filtering water. RO systems are the best 4. Easy to install/change filters 5. Good upfront price 6. Small footprint 7. Glass storage 8. Pitcher and tank is dishwasher safe. The tank came out discolored and I did get a faulty pitcher that cracked in the dishwasher. So maybe not? Cons 1. Very lightweight and plastic-y 2. No on/off button! It starts automatically and sometimes when there is still wastewater in the tank. 3. You have to have the mfg pitcher in place (perfectly) in order for it to work period. It will not produce water without it and the lid has to be on perfectly with the bobber. 4. The pitcher is glass and easily breakable with no plastic or silicone reinforcement to prevent it from breaking. I’m on my 3rd pitcher in 2 months and they take FOREVER to get a replacement. One cracked in the dishwasher which was covered under warranty and my cat knocked the other off the counter…crash 5. Poor availability of replacement pitcher. Not available on mfgr website and it takes a month to get it on Amazon. This is unacceptable. Just look how many pitchers Amazon has sold this month. 6. Not cost efficient due to pitcher easily breaking, low availability of a replacement and no alternate option 7. You have to purchase the base slider separately. You can’t gain access to the water tank without this thing if you have it under a cabinet. It should be included or built into the machine. 8. The water tank is hard to put back on the base and nothing locks/snaps it in place. You really have to push down on both sides evenly and hard to get it to stay and still it sometimes comes loose and falls backwards. I spill water constantly trying to get the tank on the base. 9. The waste water collects in the same water tank as the fresh water and re-filtering waste water can prematurely kill your machine. Sometimes when I pull the pitcher out to fill up my glass and return it to the base, it will reset and start filtering the waste water. There is no way to stop this other than keeping the pitcher off the tray or removing and emptying the water tanks. There should be a better way to prevent this considering it can prematurely damage the machine. Overall, this is a nice little machine for the price. I don’t know that I would choose it again because of the shortfalls and the lack of availability and cost of the replacement pitcher. This is the reason for 3 stars. I am already looking for something else even though I have only had this for 2 months. I am currently using my old counter top unit because I don’t have a pitcher. Been waiting 3 weeks now on a replacement. Good thing I still have my old trusty RKIN unit. I couldn’t include any photos of the pitcher because I don’t have one! Waiting…impatiently… This could easily be fixed with the option of a plastic pitcher or a silicone or plastic mold that fits over the pitcher reinforcing it. I would prefer the latter. Wish list - better pitcher, on/off button, and some sort of guide or clip/snap to hold the tank in place.

1.5 year review— it’s great!
I bought this 1.5 years ago and have spent approx $160 on replacement filters, which is not bad considering we used to fill 5 gallon water jugs. I can confidently say I would make this purchase again! Great use for my husband and I, is approx 1/2 gallon and we just refill it a few times a day. The water is incredibly clean and hydrating, of course it’s water but it feels more hydrating than other water. The taste is great! Also the filters are extremely easy to replace and you can see all the parts that need to be cleaned so there’s no hidden mold accumulating. Overall a great purchase!

Great tasting water - super easy to use
The water where I live is crystal clear, and tastes horrible. I have an undersink unit that is driving me nuts. It makes a whole lot of perfect water, but it never stops running. I went online and read a lot of stuff and watched some videos. My takeaway is that you need a masters in engineering plus a thousand years of plumbing experience to fix this. Plus a good back and knees. I don't have any of that stuff, and the constant sound of water running is driving me insane. I've spent all the money I'm going to spend on it! Enter this thang. I personally think it's too expensive. But it works great, and it's very well designed. The filters are super easy to install, the waste tank and the pitcher only go in one way and that way is obvious - you won't have to try to figure out if you've done it right. If they were to slash the price and do a bit of promo, this could be something everybody wants. I haven't even looked at the instructions yet (but I will). It is so easy to put together; then you run four rounds of tap water through and you're ready to drink. The water is delicious. It has a tap water container on the back that you fill up at the sink. The unit starts immediately when you place that container down. The water recirculates quickly through the various filters and sends clean water to the pitcher in front. One round results in 30 oz clean drinking water, and you're left with wastewater that you are to pour down the drain (or use for watering decorative (non-edible) plants or cleaning (not dishes or things you will eat off of) or you could mop with it). Unlike the undersink unit, the filters are quite easy to install.

Really great water purifier!
I really like my AquaTru Carafe water purifier. The water out of it tastes great. I actually had the larger model previously but never liked that the drinking water was always sitting in a plastic bin. With this carafe model, while it does still have some plastic, the carafe is glass. What would be really good is if they made a glass lid too (Aqua Tru, if you're listening hint hint)! I ended up being able to sell the larger unit to a neighbor (she is really happy with it) so I then bought this carafe version. This unit takes up a bit less space on my counter and at first I thought it would be less convenient to have to pour the water out of the carafe each time but I enjoy the look and feel of of the glass carafe. And if I ever want to, I can just bring the whole carafe full of water to the dining table or to my home office, etc., which is convenient and encourages me to stay hydrated. The unit is quiet and seems reliable and easy to use. Filters easy to install and easy to learn the system and understand the controls. I also like the size of the carafe - it's perfect to be able to lift and pour out of and feels great in your hand. And, you want to be filtering water fairly often to avoid stagnant water. I prefer to add my own mineral drops to the purified water to make my own mineral water. I use Omni Blue ocean minerals which I believe is a more complete and natural mineral supplement as you are getting all the minerals of the ocean. Pro tip - the little filter tool can be stored (upside down) right underneath the RO filter in the back of the unit, so you don't lose it. There is a nice cutout there for it (see my picture). 4.5 stars, it would be a total 5 stars if the carafe lid were glass too but this is the best water purifier and has also been lab tested as such. I recommend it!

Best water filter for countertops
Very effective and efficient water filter system. Doesn't take up much more space than a coffee maker and works within minutes. I have a full pitcher of water filtered within about 10 minutes. Tested my water with a PH strip and it came out at the highest level for purity and PH balance. Taste is amazing and the glass pitcher is a must for me. Highly recommend!
