Nice, sharp knife
This review is of the C13 red/black knife, with the san-mai type construction of a central core of a Chinese powder steel that forms the knife edge clad on both sides with 33 layers of a 'Damascus" type stainless steel for 67 reported layers in the blade. First impressions: Nice looking knife. The balance is in/towards the handle. The handle is a slightly different shape than any of my other knives, but it feels good in the hand. The fit and finish of the knife is very nice, the mosaic pin in the handle looks very nice, everything looks nice on this knife. Enough about looks, let's see how it cuts! This is one of the sharpest factory knives that I have ever used! It easily and cleanly sliced through an 11" long piece of newsprint type paper, no drag or 'catches' from an inconsistent sharpening job. This knife is sharp! I'll update this review when I have used the knife for a while, but so far I am impressed.

So Perfect it almost cuts by itself!!!!!
Unbelievably sharp and finely crafted knife. I gave it to my Dad for Christmas and he used it to carve roast beef and couldn't believe how great it was. He said the grip, weight and overall construction were so well suited for his hands....He absolutely loved it!

Very sharp knives
I have this nice set and love it. Both knives are extremely sharp and cut through meat like butter. This set was bought as a gift for a friend and they were very happy with them.

Amazing product. The knives are very sharp and hold their edge
Amazing product. The knives are very sharp and hold their edge extremely well. Overall quality is excellent, and they perform great in everyday kitchen use. I liked them enough to buy a second set as a gift. The only reason for four stars instead of five is a small cosmetic issue of uneven polishing near the handle. It does not affect performance. Highly recommended.

Worth it.
Nice set of knifes. I have purchased knifes from Walmart. I now recommend quality over saving a dollar or two. Very happy with these knifes. I actually enjoy cutting up vegetables.

This knife is incredibly sharp. Seems bigger than 5.5” listed size. Good for everything and came with edge protector.

Well made, very sharp, a little heavy
I bought the 8" chef's knife with 5" utility knife combination ("Beginner Chef") for my mother in-law. My first impression, out of the box, was that the chef's knife felt quite heavy. I washed it and used it to fine dice a whole onion and a huge amount of carrots (julienne). The knives are super sharp out of the box. The blade went thru the onion with no effort at all. After using for all the chopping and dicing, the chef's knife did not really feel heavy. It's well balanced. The shape of the both the chef's knife and utility knife are a little unusual. The curvature of the cutting edge of the chef's knife is ok, I tried rocking the knife while chopping the onion and it felt fine. Attached are photos. They are taken with my Cangshan A-Series chef's knife which has a more traditional German chef's knife shape. Both knives have cutting edges of exactly 8 inches, but the backside of the ZongChuan 8C blade is about an inch longer, explaining the extra weight of the knife. The width is about 2.25" compared to 1.75 inches for the Cangshan. The width of the utility knife is 1.1 inches, while the Cangshan utility is about 0.875 inches. Personally, I would prefer a more narrow utility blade. I give these knives a 5 star rating. They appear very well made. The edges around the handle are smooth and all flush. The blade is thick and strong, but not too thick. The edges of the back of the blade are rounded and smooth. The reported hardness of HRC 58 +/-2 should be hard enough to hold a sharp edge, yet soft enough to easily sharpen with a whetstone. This is the same hardness of my Cangshan knives, which I have had for 5 years and sharpen about every 6 months. At $60, these knives are good value.
