Easy setup, easy to use, easy on the eyes.
My company had used a Lathem PC-50 time clock for something like 14 years. We started out using the stupid cards that for some inexplicable reason always managed to break, and that was when an employee was actually responsible and kept up with their cards--even more often they would "lose" them or leave them at home. We added a fingerprint sensor and we were good for more than a decade. The Lathem clock required a direct, 24/7 connection via USB to a PC to function as a time clock server for Lathem's software. The PC had habitual issues connecting but were usually solvable. The last straw saw me facing almost a month without a connection to the Lathem clock, support were generally clueless ("Wow, this clock is so old I've never even heard of it!") and ultimately unable to help me fix the connection issue. Worse, Lathem wanted to upsell me on a new time clock unit and their cloud service, informing me that I should "ask for a quote" after telling them more about my company and the number of employees involved. Not interested, I just needed to get a working solution at a reasonable price tag and they were not forthcoming about costs. Googling around I learned about Timedox and their clocks. So I looked around some more for various reviews, which seemed okay--a standalone time clock that does not require subscription, USB export and WiFi connectibility available, and an export to a standard Excel sheet. Sounds good. Another google search brings up Timedox clocks available via amazon, and in connection with the reviews I read, I ordered this one. The title of the product makes very clear that the unit does not have a monthly subscription, and a one-time payment; I reasonably inferred this "one-time payment" actually refers to the software that is required in order to use the Timedox clock from the very first bullet point which states: "Timedox Pro Suite Software Required (purchased separately) A One-Time Payment with Access to Lifetime Updates," in other words, I had no surprises. The box arrived in two days via amazon prime shipping and I was off and running. The Timedox Silver Snow biometric clock mounted easily on the wall where Lathem's PC-50 once was. No continuous connection to any PC is required, so my office now has a new PC available for use. I registered an account with Timedox's website, downloaded the instructions and the software, installed, read the quick start guide and registered each employee in about 20 minutes. I only exported the one day's clock punches but everything works as expected, so I expect everything should be in place for next week's payroll as well. All things considered, I'm very happy with the bundle. It cost quite a bit less than the advanced-for-its-time-but-forgotten-by-the-company Lathem PC-50. I think we spent around $550 on the PC-50, about $50 for a bundle of cards that didn't work out for us in the long run, then another $400 for the biometric sensor. We also had to update Lathem's software suite at least three times over the 14+ years that we used it, which meant dropping another $200 each time. The Timedox Silver Snow biometric time clock set us back $179, and another $199 for the Timedox Pro Software Suite. It seems well built and being completely self contained I expect it should keep working at least as long as I have my business. Topping it all off, it's a very nice, high tech looking device mounted on the wall of our front office.

Run away.
This object is garbage. It has WiFi. And you are forced to buy their $100 software. But that $100 software is crap. It won’t do anything for you. If you call them for help get ready to jump through hoops only to end up being transferred to sales. Where they recommend you buy a better product instead. However also be prepared for that sales person to NEVER CALL you.

decent basic time clock. Must purchase software to use
I got this for work. There are only 5 employees so all we need is something simple to track the hours. Didn't want to use those punch cards so fingerprint seemed the way to go.It's actually fingerprint and PIN. Out of the box it needs software (which is disclosed on the listing) Choices seem to be $200 single time payment or a monthly feeIt's `cloud' based (well what isn't?) Something that runs locally on the box with a web interface like most home routers would have been perfectly adequate especially as the only access we need is from within the LAN. I guess the razor blade model is here to stay. The software is fairly mediocre and way more complicated than we need. I'm sure some of the features are useful to some folk. Give yourself some time to figure out how it works or call the support people (I didn't)Once it's going you don't need to play with it unless you are going to be hiring and firing left and right.

Amazing product
Very good fingerprint time clock. I liked the fact it is connecting by Wi-Fi and Have no monthly subscription, over all it is the best deal. The unit works well, and the employees like it (previously they were filling in time sheets). There's some things that I feel that need to be added, but we spoke with the company and they promised to have them added to the work plan, overall, the system is pretty well thought through in its implementation. simple setup can be done quickly and easily without assistance

Good Concept - Execution needs fine tuning
Gave this a try because it is one of the few without a monthly subscription.Finger scanner works great - quick set up, pretty straight forwardKeypad is old school dial tone phone version - has annoying beeping that cannot be silenced, imagine trying to spell out an employee name where 1 = ABC, 2 = DEF etcCustomer support lackingNo trial for their software before spending $200 as least expensive option, customer support doesn't know if this is refundableWill be returning

Additional Pricey Software Required, Not Wireless At All
They don't tell you in the description that additional software is required. Additional software is pricey and no way to try before you buy. System is not wireless at all. You have to connect a USB drive, download the data, take back to your computer and import. Tried this product and uAttend. uAttend is truly wireless, but there is a monthly fee. If I could give zero stars I would. Customer service is terrible and not friendly at all. When I requested a refund for software after I returned hardware, I was told "too bad." Do not buy, you will be wasting your money.

The Wifi feature is the best!!
I'm extremely pleased with this product. Really simple time and attendance solution that was affordable and easy to use. The WiFi feature is a lifesaver for me, because if not for that, I'd have to have network people come out, which is usually a hassle. I'd been looking to get away from the punch clock for a while, but didn't want to feel overwhelmed by modern technology. Gave this a shot because it seemed like a simpler option. I definitely recommend!
