Far exceeded my already high expectations
I enjoyed this book so much!!I've read Florence's blog for several years, so of course, I wanted her book, but I think that even if you've never heard of Flossie Teacakes - if you are a seamstress of any type, and especially if you enjoy handwork (at all) - you will like this book. If you are a big EPP fan, you will LOVE it!!If I had to describe (my perception of) Florence in one word, it would be *particular*. In a world where 'finished is better than perfect', and 'if you can't see it from a galloping horse....' I am drawn to Florence's passion for, and pursuit of excellence, and that passion is evident in Flossie Teacakes Guide to English Paper Piecing. The first chapter alone is worth the price of the book, in my frugal opinion (and the price has dropped a few dollars from the pre-order price that I paid, making it an even better bargain!) Much of it resonated with me and I found myself wanting to share *so many passages* with my sewing friends. I walked around for the two days that I spent in chapter one feeling validated, inspired, challenged, and just very *happy*.Florence is a master at using fabric to its full advantage and she shares some excellent tips to help the reader become proficient with EPP and fussy cutting too, and even suggests a few designers to start with, if you are new to intentionally turning fabric into swiss cheese. While I do occasionally enjoy EPP (English Paper Piecing) and think her patterns and projects are beautiful, if I'm entirely honest, it's unlikely that I will use any of them (at least in the near future) simply because that's not where my heart is right now with my sewing and quilting, BUT - I *was* inspired to join a summer quilt along that combines some simpler EPP with traditional piecing. It's worth noting that when I learned of the sew along a few weeks ago, I wasn't at all interested in joining. The book is lovely to look at, extremely well written (on quality (though not *fine*) paper) and sprinkled with photos of beautiful works of art. It was a joy to read, and as much as I want to share it with friends, I'll think twice before loaning it out, because it's one I definitely want to keep and thumb through again and again.

History & How to do English Paper Piecing
This is a wonderful book about English Paper Piecing. The publisher just about ruined it for me by using gray print instead of black. Older reader’s eyes need black bold print, not pale gray to read with ease. This book is so interesting that I trudged thru it with a lighted magnifying glass. It deserves to be published as a Kindle book so the reader can control the print and improve the clarity of the pictures. The author wrote a very competent history about EPP and her directions for using the method were excellent. She showed many ways to use the method for designing and creating stunning quilts. She is an inspiring author and quilt maker.

So Much More Than a Book About Sewing
This incredible book is more than just a guide to technique accompanied with some design inspiration. I have been following Florence's blog for years, captivated by her precise sewing, gift for color and composition and kind, intelligent writing. In this book, Florence not only provides an excellent basis in the How-Tos of English Paper Piecing, but also its history, its effect on our lives and our brains and we get to know some other talented EPPers across history and the world. I loved reading about some of the earliest EPP quilts still in existence. I have many quilting, sewing and knitting books and have been crafting for over 20 years. This is the first crafting book I have read, cover to cover, in a couple of days. Florence's writing style is so engaging and so personal, like having a lovely sewing companion in book form. This book is an absolutely treasure.

Beautifully written
The book gives the history and techniques of paper piecing. Great "how to". My only disappointment is that there wasn't at least one quilt or pattern for beginners to start. I did pick one of the small photos of a pattern that looked like it would be simple enough for a beginner and then called an online paper pieces website and asked for help and information in ordering to get me going.

Excellent guide for precision EPP.
I have not read the book or made anything from it but I did give it a good initial look. This is based on my first impressions and also on my experience as a quilter. I do have another book on EPP and have read about it in magazines; I have also made some projects so I do have quite a bit of experience already. First, the book is inspiring with great photos -- it makes one want to start immediately. Second, it provides excellent instruction, showing the steps very clearly. I particularly like the way it shows how the many different shapes will look when properly wrapped with fabric.

Much more than I expected!
I was thrilled to find a very detailed introduction to the whole history and Psychology behind English paper piecing.the price was worth the introduction alone. There were very detailed, simple to follow, instructions on the technique itself. I would have liked a little more information on drafting patterns, and making of the paper shapes necessary.
