The Practice of the Presence of God: Complete text with Illustrations Review: Best edition of the text - This is a classic theological text and well worth a read for anyone seeking to deepen their faith experientially, not just intellectually. As someone who mostly engages with faith intellectually, I appreciate reading books like this even if it's difficult for me to understand or relate to, I benefit greatly from the example being set and from getting to learn from such disparate experiences. This edition in particular is excellent. The preface points out that the "public domain" version easily accessible for most is actually highly censored and edited, which I didn't realize. This version restores the original text in the original order, and the illustrations are so simple and humble that they actually serve to enhance the message of the text and make for an overall very quaint, pleasant reading experience. Review: A Thoughtful, Restorative Guide to Finding Peace Amid Everyday Chaos - Finding peace can often feel impossible in an era where distractions seem to multiply by the minute. The Practice of the Presence of God does invite readers to immerse themselves in the profound simplicity of God's presence in their everyday lives. Most interestingly, I found that one was the inclusion of the controversial Sixth Letter. This letter, along with the unabridged Conversations and Lawrence’s complete set of Spiritual Maxims, provides a comprehensive view of his thoughts and teachings, allowing readers to grasp the full depth of his insights. The biography, originally published in French in 1694, offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of a man who, despite not being a priest or theologian, became a spiritual guide to countless individuals. It’s a testament to the power of authenticity in spiritual practice. Brother Lawrence’s approach is refreshingly straightforward. He reminds us that the time of action does not differ from the time of prayer. His assertion, "For me the time of action does not differ from the time of prayer, and in the noise and clatter of my kitchen, I possess God in as great tranquility as when upon my knees at the blessed sacrament," resonates deeply, particularly for those of us who struggle to find moments of peace amid the chaos of daily life. I agree with previous reviewers that this edition provides insights into spirituality and aid in the growth of their relationship with God

Wonderful Book
This review is of The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawence. It is not a review of this particular version compared to the several others on Amazon. The versions may vary in who did the introduction, etc. I gave this one as a gift. It was well received. I can say that The Practice of the Presence of God is a wonderful book. It's easy to read. I've read it multiple times. It speaks of a simple spirituality that involves being always aware of God's presence in every moment of every day.

Learning How to Practice the Presence of GOD
I purchased this book as a gift because I already have two copies of my own! However, I'm very impressed with this latest edition (NO ONE knows how many editions have been printed since the late 1600's!) which includes illustrations, a controversial "Sixth Letter," and unabridged conversations with a humble "Lay" Brother from a Carmelite monastery in seventeenth century Paris. For people of faith, this brief account of recorded discussions will provide deep reflections on meaningful ways of drawing into a more personal relationship with GOD. For those who are "seeking" or who are merely "curious," the PRACTICE OF THE PRESENCE may be the impetus needed in finding the path that leads toward that Presence." For "Only fools say in their hearts, 'There is no GOD.'" (Psalm 14:1)

Humble and Heartfelt
I was very challenged by this book to consider what it looks like to practice the presence of God personally and in every area of my life. Brother Lawrence had such a heart for God and for service and lived it out in his life and work. Such an incredible collection of his letters.

One of my all-time favorite books!
This little book has done more for my spiritual life than entire libraries of theology. Brother Lawrence’s teaching on maintaining a "conversational" relationship with God throughout the workday is life-changing. This specific edition, with its complete text and lovely illustrations, is a joy to read. It captures the beauty and simplicity of the 17th-century monk in a way that feels timeless. Highly recommended.

Living in the presence of God
This is a hard book to rate as the content is far beyond my abilities, yet one to keep and reread and refer back to. Lots of food for thought and practice.
