Works Great but tricky to install
These works great now that they are on. They're were no instructions with them so installing them was tricky. I had to use IRWIN QUICK-GRIP Woodworking Clamps to get them installed but its pretty straight forward. Friends had an old Atlantis 1600 they were going to toss out because the hinges failed. This fixed the issue now I have cargo box for the cost of two hinges.

Fixed The Problem
Had to buy. Thule no longer warrents the part. This is the second one I have replaced. They just fly apart.

Fits First Gen. Thule Adventurer (Narrow Side)
I am using it on the narrow side of a first generation Thule Adventurer that originally came with gas struts—now discontinued. The lift hinge performs well. The installation was nearly identical to a gas strut except the amount of force to install it. On a gas strut you remove a clip, slip it over the ball stud and reattach the clip. The lift hinge requires a lot of force to push it over the ball stud. I tried several methods but highly recommend a 6” -clamp. Generically, reviews of this style of lift hinge across all Thule cargo box applications report a high level of failures due to the plastic breaking. Since this is my only option, I purchased a second one to keep in my cargo box (with c-clamp) as a backup.

Smooth Operation
I installed one of these on each end of my Thule top carrier. after installation, the lid of the carrier opened with ease and remained in the up position until pulled down to close. I popped the old ones off with a prybar and installed the new ones with and Irwin welding clamp. The wide jaw type.
