Courant Electric Burner, Single Buffet Countertop Hotplate, 1000W Portable Cooktop, Black

Our stove went out & we won't be getting a new one put in for a few weeks. Bought this to hold us over. I really like it. It works like it's supposed to. It heats up quickly & maintains heat. I've only used it a few times, but will be taking this on camping trips once we get our stove. Great price for a great electric burner.

So I purchased this Courant burner because I need wanted this to use on my Kitchen Table to use for stir frying (cooking and serving right at the table)... When this single burner arrived, I quickly discovered that I could use it for several types of cooking with several types of pans! PROS: 1. This burner heats up to the highest temperature in about 3 minutes. ***When I made my Veggie and Chicken Stirfry for two, I preheated this burner for 3 minutes on my Kitchen timer, then it reached the full 1,000 watts and the RED BURNER APPEARED (as shown in the below picture) . *** I preheated my Lodge Mini Cast Iron Wok (without Olive Oil for 2 minutes, then I added my 3 Tablespoons of Olive Oil). This made my pan perfect and ready for stir frying for myself and my honey bunny! The result was an outstanding and delicious stir fry!!!! 2. The 1,000 watt (highest temperature) does not burn my food and it evenly cooks my food when I fry or stir fry. 3. Making Scrambled Eggs...So I preheated my burner on medium-high for just 2 minutes (I used a 9 inch non stick skillet). Then I added 1.5 tablespoon of butter and 4 large eggs. I gently stirred the eggs while cooking this, which cooked the eggs gently and evenly and they were very moist and delicious! 4. I boiled 3 eggs in my mini wok for 20 minutes and this hard boiled the eggs perfectly. Tip: Place a wooden spoon over the top of the pan when boiling to prevent boilovers... this works wonderfully! 5. I am glad that I bought this 1,000 watt coil model because it does not burn food and it is easier on my pans. 6. PLENTY OF HEAT! This burner is ideal for frying, cooking veggies in a saucepan, or heating up soups, stews etc. 7. Size: Compact, flat and lightweight, perfect for traveling. And better quality than I expected. I highly recommend this product.

I bought two of these (one black, one white) and they've both worked pretty well. The unit heats up quickly seems to cook evenly. It barely has enough power to cook a large pot of pasta, but if you put the cover on and are wiling to wait longer, it will. One weird defect is that on both units, the paint for the numbers on the dial (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) that show how high the heat is turned up, wiped right off. On the first unit, they wiped off when I cleaned it, but then I was careful not to clean the 2nd unit and the paint still wiped right off just from my fingers touching it. It's annoying to spin the dial around and try to guess how high you've turned it up, especially when you're cooking something like rice or an omelette, that needs to simmer on a low setting. I probably should have ranked this 3 stars because that's such a stupid, avoidable problem, but the burners work well otherwise.

If you live alone, this is the most perfect electric frying pan. Best size, light weight and cooks perfectly.

I think I’ve had this hot plate a month. The numbers have all worn off the dial, luckily, I marked them with a permanent marking pencil, with a line because there wasn’t room to write a number. The hot plate heats fine, but you can’t lift up the coil to clean under it! The coil also does not pull out to be able to clean under it.

I needed an electric burner for my screened in porch that was not expensive, but took up a small area and used to reverse sear meats at a high temperatures. This makes a mess in the kitchen but fine for my porch. This one fit the requirements and the only minor problem, and it is minor, is that the temperature control knob binds a little when my old cast iron skillet gets really hot. It is minor and not so severe to cost a star in the rating. This is an excellent burner for the price - simple but effective.

The reason I bought this little burner over others was the automatic shutoff. It turns out I made a good choice. I bought it to use with my pour over coffee pot. I set it on medium and the water boils in under 4 minutes on medium (Same amount of time it takes my english muffins and eggs to cook). Before buying, I read some reviews about the numbers wearing off, but when you turn it off and on with the outer ring you are not touching the numbers. I was prepared to put add nail polish if needed, but so far everything is fine. The price was right and now I can use my coffee stand again instead of my stove. I used to use a Keurig coffee maker, but the Coronavirus has made it impossible for me to get distilled water delivered to my home. I have not left the house since March 26th except to deposit my stimulus check. Thanks to Amazon, Aldi's and CVS delivery services. You won't be sorry if you purchase this, especially if its still on sale.

THICK smoke that smelled of rubber immediately! Less than 3 seconds upon turning it on. Definitely a defective unit but I opted to get my money back rather than take a chance on a replacement. I also did not see a "UL" (underwriters laboratory) sign of a safe design on it. Please keep you and your family SAFE! Choose something else. Units made in China are always hit or miss; don't ever trust any of their electronics, or leave them unattended or plugged in overnight!
