Keeping my BFF safe!
There was an accident not far from me where the poor pup was thrown from the vehicle and killed, which led me on a search to find a safe way to travel with my bestie. I love taking her everywhere with me, and I did have a strap to connect her to the safety belt, but I just did not feel like her harness or safety restraint were substantial enough. After a great deal of research I settled on the Kurgo Tru-Fit Enhanced Strength Dog Harness. My first impressions when it was delivered was that it is a very substantial harness. All buckles and fittings are steal, and the chest plate on the front is shaped in a way that actually covers her without cutting in to her. I should mention that my pup is a 70lb standard poodle, so finding something that fits her can be challenging. Not a problem with the Kurgo as there are 5 different areas that can be adjusted so it allows for a custom fit. The steel latches are extremely easy to work with, and once set, will hold the sizing until you decide to change them. After fitting her I put her in the back seat and we were off. In its most restrictive setting, I found that this combination holds her securely and allows her to sit and lay down without giving her extra room to move around. That is exactly what I wanted so we went out for a drive, got some ice cream, and then stopped and I attached her leash to the new harness and we went for a walk. I like that this harness does not restrict or cut in to her leg movements as so often happens with this breed because of the deep chest. We are very happy with this product and highly recommend it. This pup is a part of our family and we want to make sure she is kept safe and secure, and this does the job! To whoever designed this, thank you!

Would recommend/buy again
I really love this harness. For one, it's a harness that fits my dog! My pup is super deep chested and thin necked which made it almost impossible to find a harness that actually fit her, which sucked because she needs a harness for her sensitive neck. Before this arrived I was using a mesh harness that was entirely too big around her neck and was snug on her chest. Adjusted how I like, this harness can still go a few inches larger around her chest and a couple inches smaller around her neck. I'm giving 5 stars just for a harness that fits! First impressions of the harness: I got the XS harness. When I took it out of the box my first thought was that it seemed a little heavy for a harness ment for small/toy dogs. However the more I handled it I realized that weight came from the metal buckles(which I abosluely love. I wouldn't trust plastic buckles in a car crash and the metal ones are extremely easy to use) and the doubled and tripled layers of material of all the straps as well as the padded chest piece. The more I thought about it I realized I wouldn't want a harness that's ment to protect my dog in case of a car crash to be any lighter, the weight means it's built with extra strength and the well being of the dog in mind. (When I say it's "heavy" I mean it probably weighs around 1/2 a pound as opposed to the mesh harness I was using that weighs pretty much nothing). The car strap that comes with this harness is pure genius. I use it in the way that gives my dog a little more freedom in the car as she has a small obsession with putting her head out the window. The strap gives her the perfect amount of movement and keeps her from hanging completely out the window and jumping out(she has jumped out a car window at a stop sign with my mom when she was a puppy and I have no doubts she'd do it again if given the chance). The strap itself is extremely heavy duty and well made and I wouldn't want anything less. The strap was the final selling point for me as I didn't want a harness that needed to be attached directly to the steat belt and I'm cautious about buying a leash that attaches directly into the seatbelt reciever. My only problem is my pup likes to do a few circles before laying down and the strap can get twisted up pretty easy. Other than that I don't have anything negative to say about this product!

High-quality harness, tricky to fasten
We bought this harness for our 10 month-old Lab/Bull Mastiff mix puppy, as she had grown out of her prior seat belt, and I liked how this could be used as a regular harness (by attaching the leash to the ring at the front of the harness) or as a seat belt attachment (by running your car seat belt through the attachment on the back of the harness). It also can go on over her regular collar, which has her tags on it, easily, which is nice. We were also excited about the padded chest of the harness and the "Enhanced Strength," as our "Minnie" is 50 pounds of pure muscle. We are happy to say that, so far, the durability of the harness has been excellent. Minnie is able to get her lower jaw under the padded chest area and to chew on that area if she tries hard enough (that's due to us not having the fit adjusted perfectly yet), and so far her chewing has not affected the integrity of the harness at all. Also, the padding has been great in the car. We can tell our puppy is much more comfortable during sudden stops than she was in her older seat belt harnesses. The only issue we have with this harness is that we are not thrilled with the way the harness fastens. My husband has explained the physics of it to me, and it is a safer (tension) fastener than the traditional snap in fasteners used on most harnesses (which would be more likely to break during a car accident, theoretically). However, if you don't have the harness fit VERY tight to your dog, the harness can (and has) come undone on its own at times in the car, when the dog relaxes enough in the car to give some laxity to the harness. No tension, and the perfect roll are all it took for our girl to get the harness undone in the car (again, we should probably have it tighter than we do). But that bring me to my next issue with the fasteners on this harness - they are VERY hard to get fastened on a squiggly puppy, because of the way they are constructed. You have to get some extra harness, fit the fastener pieces through each other properly, and then let go so the tension can hold the fastener in place. To do that on a moving target has required us to leave the harness about an inch or so (we guess) looser than we should, so we can get it on her at all. Hopefully, as she gets more used to the harness, she'll hold still for us better, and these issues can be resolved. All-in-all, we are happy with this very sturdy harness and hope that our "little" girl will stop growing and cozy into this one for awhile. (P.S. Our puppy is 50 pounds of muscle, with a very smooth coat, and only has a little growing room left for this harness, even though we bought the size for dogs 50-80 pounds. I think it is because she has a very large chest and small waist, but if you are between two sizes, you might want to go up one with this harness). Happy car rides!

We bought this harness as the range of sizes was rather large and we had no idea how big our mixed breed rescue puppy would grow up to be. We have had this harness for 3 months now and our girl grew inside of it from 13 to 22kg. We are very happy with our purchase and have gotten several positive comments as well. It's a very solid piece which tightens a bit on the top when the dog pulls - which is great as she can't get out of it this way. Our dog is quite scared of other dogs and people, so she has tried a few time to run away, but this harness keeps her secure with us. The front-no-pull function unforuntately does not work very well for us. The front part is rather loose and it just moves the whole harness to the side of her body, turning it into a great toy to bite on right in front of her nose. It's hard to describe but put simply: if you are looking for a no-pull harness, look somewhere else. Then again, on average it takes a dog about 1,5 years to learn to walk well on the leash, so we don't really worry about her very few times of pulling and therefore don't mind not having a great no-pull-front-buckle option. Overall definitely recommend this harness! Especially for puppies!

Once I'd set it up once it was easy to use - and looks to be very comfortable for our dog. The included car carabiner looks safe and is easy to get on and off. Perhaps some more reflective strips would be useful, but other than that cannot fault this harness - especially considering the price and comparison to other significantly more expensive products.
