ExOfficio Women's BugsAway Vianna Lightweight Hiking Pants

I am that person that even one mosquito will find in a crowd. I always come away with a dozen very inflamed hot and swollen bites that itch for weeks. I always require Benadryl that sadly knocks me out. So...planning ahead I purchased the BugsAway pants along with ExOfficio socks and long sleeved shirt for a trip to the rainforest in Mexico and Costa Rica. With these articles of clothing and Avon sunscreen on my exposed face...I did NOT RECEIVE A SINGLE mosquito bite!!! The garments fit well, were stylish and light weight enough that I was comfortable in the mid to high 80s temperature. I will use these garments again and plan to order another set. I absolutely recommend the pants, socks and shirt.

I really like Exofficio pants--I like the cut, the light fabric, and how they are both bug-repelling and have an SPF. They don't tear or wear, and wash easily.Exofficio sizes are much larger than what I would normally expect. I bought my first pair (a size 8) at REI knowing full well that they were too large (on sale). I ordered the 6 from Amazon--the 6 is still too large. I am 5'6" and have an about 27" waist and 39" hips--my legs are in okay shape with decent size glutes and quads (I like pants loose over my quads--hence being okay with the larger sizes). The waist on both pairs of pants fits okay (the larger size has a drawstring), and I hopefully will not be hiking up either pair as I do with most pants... I'll probably order another pair one of these days...

OK, I admit that I am quite petite and on the wrong end of the size bell curve. But I am pretty annoyed that even the Size 0 (Zero) is too large. There is considerable size inflation in women's clothing and this is an example of it. Normally I am a Size 2, and sometimes Size 0, but here even the Size 0 is too large. I am petite, fit and athletic, and decidedly NOT skinny. I tried Ex Officio when I grew frustrated with the Merrell brand for having different sizing for the SAME Merrell Belay pant depending on the color ordered. Blue and black in size 2 fit; all other colors are way to large, and they don't offer a 0. Hence the trial of ExOfficio pants, first is size 2, then size 0, both too large. I need to keep looking. I really wanted the light Tawny color of these slacks due to the massive Western Deer Tick infestation where I live, so really don't want more navy blue and black slacks. One tick bite this year was enough.

I bought 2 sizes and sent one back. The waist is a little big but I have that problem with most of my pants. They are very comfortable. I bought these for vacation and they seemed to repel the mosquitoes. I only had one bite on my leg. I would definitely recommend these!

Fits perfect. True to size BUT if you aren't tall, like me 5'10" then you will find the legs to be a bit long.

The size 4 was at least 6" too long on my 30" inseams. The low waist was also too loose. I normally wear size 4 or 6, and was afraid the size 2 would be too narrow in the thighs.Expensive for not having boot zippers or convertible short zipper.
