Great TV but you most tweak the settings to have the best of it!
Compared to Middle range smart tv's 4K (Around £650 to £1100) in my opinion the Philips 55psu6803 is one of the best for value, quality and features offered! But you need to be affluent with changing default settings. As you have on this unit lots of different settings regarding the picture quality, of course all depending on what you're actually plugging in to the tv to view. The sound settings are a bit more than basic but the sound once tweaked is more than passable! (it actually has an ok bass sound with low frequencies which is quite an improvement compared to most of all the other tv's on the actual market) never the less if you want a well loud sound I recommend to use an expensive sound bar.The 4K picture is quite good, i've plugged in to the tele the latest xbox and a 4k iptv player as well as 4k prime and a few 4k downloaded films. The Ambilight is a good thing for dark rooms with white walls and ceilings but you may only use it occasionally, nevertheless is a brilliant feature that makes a grate experience.I've had expensive up the market Sony's and Samsung's in the past and I love clean sharp pictures with good contrast ratio's and this tv i'd say is in between the Sony and Samsung's middle range tv's, obviously without paying the extra 100's of pounds! All in all Amazon delivered the TV safely on the time they said at no extra charge and you get a 2 year warranty as standard by the manufacturer.Anyway I hope this review gives you a better idea about the Philips 55PUS6803/12 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV with HDR Plus (2018 Model)

Exceptional TV let down by poor grey uniformity
Already owning a 65" flagship Samsung UHD TV, I can assure anyone reading that this direct lit LED Philips TV is outstanding value for the money (it's supposed to be an IPS panel, but the one I got had a narrow viewing angle and very deep blacks). No, it can't strike the minimum brightness to claim the premium HDR certification, but it still goes bright. Coupled with decent blacks, extremely vibrant colours, a nice sharp image, low input lag, and, of course, Ambilight -- which is an actual thing that turned out not to be a gimmick -- this seemed like the perfect bedroom TV.Sadly, grey uniformity was horrible (as you can see from the photos). Where you're supposed to have a solid colour, you get uneven dark patches, known as 'dirty screen effect' (DSE). To some degree, all LED TVs suffer from this - even OLED. Sometimes, in real viewing conditions, it's negligible. Other times, it's noticeable with camera pans across solid background colours, like blue or grey skies, painted walls, etc. I tried to get used to it, but it was impossible. I've personally never experienced such bad grey uniformity (the camera doesn't pick up how bad it appeared). If that wasn't enough, the right side of the panel was brighter than the left (again, down to bad uniformity). In the end, I was so impressed with this TV - and Ambilight - that I bought an alternative panel from Philips (one Amazon doesn't stock). It was a bit costlier, but has turned out to have better grey uniformity (still not perfect, but not noticeable in a real world viewing conditions). Amazon are great at allowing you to return items you're not satsified with, so I'd recommend anyone interested in this TV to give it a go. You'll be hard pushed to find better quality at this price point -- and certainly not Ambilight -- and chances are you'll end up with a better panel than I had.

Disappointing.
First, Philips have abysmal customer service. This is a real problem as their sets seem to have a significant amount of issues. Even getting past that and liking ambilight you have to wonder about longevity form a company that won’t answer a call or try to help.I really thought the sound bar inclusion would add much more separation but it doesn’t. The ips panel can’t come close to the slightly less expensive (va) 6703. The 6703 va panel does a much better job. While you could argue the picture is close hat would be after hours of tweaking and it’s not that close. The sound from the 6703 is very very similar. I can’t recommend this over the 6703 series.
