A new dc comics animated movie. This is a Wonder Woman story. It is set in the same continuity as pretty much every DC animation has been since the movie 'Justice League' War.' Thus it's the version of Wonder Woman first seen there. Voiced here by Rosario Dawson. There was an earlier animated Wonder Woman, which did her origin story. So this does that all again. But gets good marks from the off by getting through it quickly - but never rushing it - in the opening quarter. This section really impresses. The animation is clear and very colourful. And the visuals are great at conveying character's feelings just by expression. We are introduced to ancient civilisation expert Dr. Julia Kapatelis, and her daughter Vanessa. The former becoming a great friend of Diana's. The latter being an awkward teenager trying to find parental approval and her place in the world. Early scenes with these two have good character, as Diana at this time still doesn't quite fit in.When Vanessa starts to go off the rails and down a dark path of villainy, DIana won't give up on her. The only way to help her is to find a place she thought she could never see again. But danger will await...Whilst it does keep the animation style up throughout, this does slightly lose momentum when into the second quarter, as it starts to become more plot than character driven then. It does do a good job of getting good villains in though, as nearly all of Diana's rogues gallery do show up. Her friend Etta Candy is very much taken in this version from her current comic book take, and she certainly has her moments. Steve Trevor here is also presented very strongly, well able to contribute to battle scenes. The final third does pick back up, with some excellent action. And then you see what it has been doing with the character arcs all along. Everything as a result does come together rather nicely, in moments that are very true to the characters. All leading to a decent ending and good resolution for the character arcs. You might think hang on what about...so keep watching for an extra scene during the end credits, that will answer that question. Not quite a five star release, but a good watch. Well worth four stars.Languages and subtitles on the dvd are:Languages: English, French, German.Subtitles: English, Arabic, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Norwegian, Romanian, Swedish. The only extras are the usual previews of other dc animations, that mix talking heads with finished and unfinished footage. One for the already released Justice League V Teen Titans.Another for the already released Superman/Batman: public enemies. And one for the forthcoming Superman: Red Son.

LOVE IT TO DEATH
I USED to buy every DC animated release, but, over the years, due to varying quality, started to get more selective. Upon hearing of yet another Wonder Woman origin story, I thought I’d sidestep it. That is, until I discovered the accompanying DC Showcase featurette…was Neil Gaiman’s Death(!!!). I was both excited and concerned. How were they ever gonna get the winsome reaper…’just right’. I’m an ‘artist’. I write and draw a weekly comic-strip. And, today, I just could not get my act together. Sitting at my computer, groping for a script idea, the usual demons that reside in my head, were telling me it could not be done. I was wasting my time. Then - PING! - I got an email informing me ‘Wonder Woman: Bloodlines’ had been delivered. I put ‘work’ to one side and rushed to get the Blu-Ray. Bizarrely, the(Death) story is about an artist plagued by demons of self doubt...! It’s tragic. It’s beautiful. And, they got Death…just right.

Lot of action but nothing else.
Not a great story, hated the lines but the action is what makes this an ok to good movie. I would have given it 3.5 stars but could not bring myself to round it up to 4 stars. One warning, (it is 12 rated and justified in that rating), if anyone gets this for younger viewers there is more or less a nude scene from one of the other female characters. The part I liked about this movie they really played up the warrior aspect of Wonder Woman, this is great the fights and action great, but everything else not so good.Ok Superman is found as a baby and needs to be brought up, ok, Wonder Woman (who is older then most people grandmothers), needs a human mother figure to understand the world, no. The woman's own daughter had no choice but to become a villain. She was horrible to her and all WW can do is pass notes saying I know your mother like me better that is ok?The line are terrible,"what are you a superhero? You can't even drive"The woman is practically immortal, super strong and can fly, what else is she going to be?The change between the New 52 and classic costume. I am not a huge fan of the New 52 art to me the characters look too skinny. During fight scenes WW looks great but the parts she is not fighting she is bordering on anorexic to me.This is a watchable movie but if I watched it again, I would just forward it from fight scene to fight scene. Which (I am glad) there are plenty of, in these I think the movie really captures Wonder Woman.

Balls to Steve Rogers
Great animation, good storyline except for Steve bloody Rogers. For god’s sake get rid of him. Wonder Woman needs neither female or male lover - human or superhero. Just leave her alone to get on with it.

WONDERWOMAN BLOODLINE Animated DVD from Warner
I bought this on the spur of the moment. I am not a fan of "The Justice League" films particularly, being of a certain age I prefer the cartoons of the 40's and 50's. But I like LYnda Carder and Gal Gadot (Must check I have that right) so gave this a go. What audience is it aimed at? Lots of cartoon blood and violence. A WW who seems to change shape a lot. Very long fight scenes (they all could have been trimmed by 30 seconds or so). On the positive side I like the physical WW and Rosaria Dawson does a gppd voice. In fact all the characters are voiced well and look good. I am afraid I couldn't really get into the plot, but as I said - I am not the prime target! Lots of 5 star reviews (and some not so 5 star - If in doubt go for it as the price is reasonable.
