First time cheer mom. Was iffy about getting a hair piece. So happy I did though.
My review comes from a very new, inexperienced, competitive cheer mom. I am not a girly girl. I do not fix my hair or wear makeup often myself. I grew up as a tomboy. This is my daughter's first year doing competition cheer. She has VERY thick hair and it takes FOREVER to tease her hair high and proud. (If you are a cheer mom you know what I'm talking about.) On top of her hair being thick, it is also curly so we had to straighten it each time too. In the end, all she was left with was a very sore scalp and a headache. Another girl on her team uses this hairpiece and my daughter begged me to get it so we didn't have to spend hours on her hair on comp days. This has been an absolute lifesaver. The color matches pretty much perfectly. The quality of the hair feels nice and soft. The length is perfect for us. Goes to about her shoulders. (She is 9). We tested it out a few times to get the feel before the first time she wore it for comp just to ensure we could secure it properly and it not move when she did her stunts. We did not use the bun scruchie looking thing because her hair is so thick we didn't need it for the extra bump or height. Bobby pins are your best friend with this. If you have thick hair I would suggest buying bobby pins that are bigger, longer, and made for thick hair. They will make it easier to secure the hairpiece. This comes with I think 5 or 6 bobby pins but they are small. Bigger ones secure better in my opinion. Here is what I have been doing in case it helps someone else. I put her hair in a high pony on the top of her head. Then I put the pony in a sloppy twist bun. Secured with a couple of bobby pins. You can use the bun scrunchie thing if you want to of course. Next, prepare the hairpiece before placing it on top of the bun. Smooth out the hair and make sure it is laying right. Make sure the 2 clips inside the net are open. There is an elastic string around the hair net area that you will tighten to help secure the piece. For me, it was easier to tie the two ENDS of this together slightly. (Not tight at all and you want it to be at the ends.) This is to make sure that once you start to secure it you aren't fumbling later trying to find one of the elastic string ends. When ready to put it on I hold onto the 2 attached hairclips and align the center of the hair net with the center of her bun. I will then scoop those two clips underneath the bun as much as I can and clip them. These clips help to keep it in place enough for you to then let go of the hairpiece and it not fall. They are a little bit of a pain to close but do not stress about how deep or secure you can get them because, in my opinion, the bobby pins are what really secures it anyway. Once I get them clipped I gently, without tugging, gather the hair on top of her hair standing straight up. I have my daughter hold it kind of loosely and more so towards the end of the hair so she does not pull the net at all while I make sure the net is tucked all around the bun starting in the front and making my way down both sides until I get to the back where the ends of the elastic ties are. I will untie the 2 ends, pull them as tight as I can, and then tie them in a bow. You might feel better tying them in a knot but I had no issue with it staying tied in a bow. I didn't want to tie it in a knot and then it get so tight with all the moving around that it would be really hard to get it out later. (I do want to say that when I am finished up to this point I can still see a little bit the elastic string and hair net bunched up a little bit in the front. I am sure if I really wanted to I could work harder to make sure this is not the case BUT since she wears a cheer bow it does not matter to me because the bow hides this very small imperfection in my opinion.) I then use more bobby pins to secure it and tuck in any of those areas of the strings and net that might need to be hidden a little better. I then put on her cheer bow and used some more bobby pins for extra security. I then take a fine-toothed comb to smooth out the hair, use hair spray at the top just to stiffen it some, and she is all good to go. Lasts us all day with no issues at all. When it is time to take it out you basically just do the steps backwards. When I store it I keep the elastic strings tied in a bow and tie the hair in 2 hair ties (one higher up and one lower) like you would when putting it in a ponytail to keep the hair from moving around too much when stored. I have had no issues with brushing the hair afterward or the hair getting hard or nasty after using hair spray. I have not had to wash it yet but I would be almost positive as long as you aren't rough with it and wash it gently it would hold up just fine. This is the very first time we have ever used a hairpiece. I would never in a million years think I would be a hair piece-buying competition cheer mom so I will be honest and say I really do not know anything about stuff like this. I took the chance with this and I am 1000 times happy I did. When we first got it in I was so overwhelmed because I had no idea what I was doing. I had never even held a hairpiece before. Lol. I told myself from the jump there was no way I was getting it to stay in her hair but after I few tries this is what has worked for us and we are both so happy with it.It is very much so worth the money in my opinion. These are 2 pictures I snapped real quick at the end of comp day to show my mom. She has dirty blond or sandy blond colored hair and as you can see the hairpiece matched really well.

Great for Cheer!
My daughter is in All Star Cheer and she has curly/corse hair which is a lot of work to straighten not to mention super damaging. This piece is great! Easy to use, looks natural, and stays put through lots of tumbling passes! I use lots of Bobby pins in addition to the clips and drawstring but honestly couldn’t be happier with this product for the price! This is a no brainer! Saves soooo much time and looks great!!

not the best, not the worst
i used this for cheer hair. from a distance, it looks great, up close, its not the BEST. but not horrible.we used the bun that came with it to give it more of higher look. i used this for my 5 year old and it was the perfect length. it didnt come to her shoulders, but i think if she was older, it would be too short.

NOT Thick & Long Hair Friendly
This is not thick & long hair friendly. I tried putting it on with & without the donut. You can definitely tell it was fake and was very thin. I did everything possible to make my daughter's hair as small as possible still looked terrible. I will be returning. Also my first package came empty usps received it damaged & the second package came with everything but was opened because the packaging is cheap
