Shockingly Good for the Price
I ordered this guitar not expecting much. How good can a $139 guitar really be? Surprisingly good, actually. It’s very light weight, the mat finish on the body looks great and the neck is nice and smooth. The frets are well finished with no sprouting and the intonation wasn’t bad. The action is a little high out of the box, but mine was playable right out of the carton. It has that classic telecaster twang. This would be a great mod platform, which is what I intend to do with it.For someone looking for a first guitar, this may be the best deal out there.

Not a disappointment
Got the flat black color. No complaints about fit and finish. Hardware is acceptable although I will probably replace the tuners sooner than later. Plays good out of the box. Sound is good. Everything lived up to expectations. This would be a good guitar for a beginner or intermediate player. Worth the money.

Great for the price
Great little starter guitar. Could use some setting up. the finger board was a tad dry, but nothing a little bit of lemon oil can’t fix. Stock strings were okay but I changed them out.

Fun tele
You get what you pay for, and sometimes it’s fair. Good starting point for a project guitar. Fun and pretty good twang as it is. Decent weight, could use love here and there. But that’s where you come in. I would say fair value.

This Guitar Has No Business Being This Good!
My Squier Debut Telecaster just arrived. This guitar is an absolute steal for the price! I was expecting a mess, but I received a perfectly playable, beautiful guitar right out of the box.The fret ends are perfect, the neck is comfortable, the finish is beautiful, the tuners are just fine and the bridge is pretty nice. The plastic nut does its job.It was already tuned and well set up. I need to lower the action just a little, but that’s just my preference. It’s not necessary. For what I paid, this guitar is a thing of beauty. If you’re on the fence, just order it and be pleasantly surprised. I have no idea how they can get away with this price but I’m not complaining. I have been playing for 35 years and have owned many expensive and cheap instruments. This one is a keeper.

It’s better than you think
A solid choice for any level, especially at this price. I’ve always loved the Telecaster shape, and this one feels really nice. It’s very light, and the neck is very comfy. After I swapped the strings and set the intonation, it has no problem staying in tune. The only issue I had was the input jack, but I plan on upgrading that. I really like the satin finish on the body, and I find myself reaching for this one a lot more than my other guitars. The pickups sound good. The neck is very smooth, and the frets are a perfect fit. I’d highly recommend this to anyone, it plays so nicely.

Great guitar for budget
Would rate 6 stars but theres no hidden 6th star, sounds amazing, the feeling is great, fits just right, and the color reminds me of an old 50’s car

Very good beginner guitar. Comparable to the Sonic
This is a review for the Squire debut black matte telecaster. I tracked it straight from Washington to Colorado. Packaging was in great shape. The guitar I received, is a perfect starter instrument for a beginner. It was cut correctly at the nut, intonation is good and the action only slightly higher than my preference. The strings are good and I won't need to change them out right away. Any beginner that receives an instrument like this one will be able to scan the code and learn to play. Now, for the nitty gritty. The pickups were slightly high towards the 6th string, so I adjusted those. The jack fit is slightly loose, but works for now. The switch and the pots are good. No grinding and the switch gives a solid click when it is moved between positions. The nut is plastic and cheap, but cut correctly. The bridge is top load. The angles are correct so that the saddles are about as high as they can go. (No floating saddles from lowering the action). This guitar has a plain neck, no skunk stripe and it is plain wood inside the truss rod hole. Very basic guitar. But it has what I wanted, the neck feels identical to my other Squire telecaster. I have the Squire Sonic in surf green. These are great modding guitars. I'm still finishing my Sonic mods, so now I have a guitar to play while I fix the paint on the other one. (I filed an armrest into it among other things.)I am an intermediate player, amateur wood worker and enjoy tinkering.I think Fender/Squire really did a good job of competing with the cheap Amazon guitars!
