Save yourself time & money and get this
If you do any type of yard work that requires cutting limbs, then do yourself a big favor and get the Silky. I needed some of the branches of eight large crepe myrtles trimmed. I checked with several yard maintenance firms in the area and they all wanted close to $100 per tree. This was too steep a price for me to swallow so I first tried my anvil branch cutters which are good cutters and wasn't getting anywhere fast. I then tried using another brand pruning saw which I already had and that was no better in getting the job done. I looked around on the web and came across several Japanese hand saws that were recommended and found the Silky on Amazon. I decided to give it a try based on other reviews I had read as well as the ones on Amazon. In the worse case, I was out the price of the saw. I am so glad I bought this saw. It was awesome and I finished all my pruning in very short order. To say this hand saw is impressive is an understatement. It's flipping awesome! It cut through crepe myrtle and oak branches that were larger than my wrist and forearm as if they were rigid foam or a loaf of bread. It cuts on both the push and the pull, although much better on the pull. I have never experienced a better pruning tool. There is no pruning tool, such as compound action anvil loppers or other landscaping saws, that come anywhere close to this elegant hand tool.I have used other pruning tools which I thought were good, but this hand saw blows them all away. I love the fact that a small woman like me can easily cut through large branches with literally no effort. I was a bit skeptical when I ordered the silky, especially since I had just bought what was supposedly the top of the line compound action anvil lopper which couldn't even cut branches nearly as large as the ones that I easily cut through with the silky.Granted it's a bit expensive, but if you do a fair amount of yard work that requires cutting branches, then it's a great investment and all you will need. Especially if you don't enjoy hard work and want to get your cutting done quickly and effortlessly.I can't say enough regarding how amazing the tool is, the blade is durable, sharp and cuts through thick branches effortlessly. The hand grip is plastic, but extremely comfortable, well balanced and doesn't blister your hands after long use like many other pruning tools tend to do.The silky is made in Japan in the same region where fine Japanese cutlery is manufactured. It comes with a hard plastic scabbard which locks the blade when fully inserted. The silky also come with a lifetime warranty against material and manufacturing defects. It's easy to clean which I recommend that you do after use as well as lightly spraying and wiping down with a quality oil such as WD-40 or a good gun oil.If you want the best pruning tool currently available, then I highly recommend the Silky 270-33 Zubat Professional hand saw.

Is there a difference between this and all those $30 saws? YES !!!!
I've been climbing & pruning large oaks & firs on my property for the last 8 years. In the last 4 years alone, I've probably purchased 7-8 saws that were less than half the cost of this one. Why? Because I'm cheap and a little dense, that's why. I figured all those 5 star reviews of $25 saws had to be worth something, right? Nope. With the exception of one pretty descent $40 Ichiban, this saw is better than all those others combined. Most of the cheaper ones will do a few things well for a while. Some cut well for a few days and then lose their sharpness, some are ok but uncomfortable, and some are overall good except for the fitment into the scabbard. Where this one shines is when returning it to the scabbard. The opening of the scabbard has guides & rollers, so all I need to do is center it and let gravity do the rest. With other saws, I found that every time I took the saw out of the scabbard, it required one hand to pull the saw and one hand to stop the scabbard from pulling up too. This saw can be easily removed one-handed though. Very convenient and much safer when I'm 80' up in a tree. While I've had this saw for 3 months, I've cut enough branches with it to fill 3-4 Olympic-size swim pools and it's not showing any signs of slowing down. I purchased some thick velcro straps so I could fasten the scabbard to my leg while using in trees, since my harness & gear has already called dibs on all available space between my waste & knees.Ergonomics: 10/10Sharpness & Sharpness Retention: 10/10Effectiveness: 9.5/10, (blade can flex during the cut, but this is probably my deficiency and not the saws)Ease of taking it out & returning the blade to scabbard: 11/10I'm all for saving $ when I can, but I guarantee you'll end up spending more on multiple cheap saws then if you were to just sack up and buy this from the start. Best handsaw of its kind I've ever used. Very satisfied.
