kayaking again-feeling free!
I am so excited to finally write a review on this kayak. I purchased it on Amazon last year, unfortunately due to the COVID 19 pandemic I was not able to get until the fall. No worries though-it arrived!I bought an inflatable kayak because I cannot lift a kayak onto the roof of my car due to wrecked shoulder blades; I also do not have trailer hitch. So I was looking for a kayak that would make feel safe, get my kayaking again and frankly wouldn't be a pain in the butt to get onto the water. Also I want to note that the last time I was in a kayak (traditional kayak) was five years ago and was in a freak accident and almost drowned so for me, feeling safe again was a major priority again.I found the Sevylor Quikpack K5 via searches and watched a youtube of unboxing the kayak to see how easy it would be to inflate. I also further did research on their website-because I was also trying to wrap my head around that inflatable could be "just as a good" as a more expensive plastic kayak. So today I brought the kayak (dubbed Bodhi 2) out on a non-motorized pond here in Vermont. It took me about 15 minutes to inflate and setup the way I wanted to. Part of the reason for timing-first time doing it, I didn't bring the instructions and I was in no rush. Because I had watched the youtube, I knew exactly what I had to do to inflate. Relatively easy if you are able-bodied. The "chair" seemed slightly complicated only because I couldn't figure out exactly how to tuck the backpack straps in properly so it wouldn't be uncomfortable. I also put a cushion (like foam from a couch) in a waterproof bag just to add a little more support. I don't know if others bring the pump with them but I thought why not? Maybe in the future as I get more comfortable I won't feel the need to have it. There is a storage which is about the size of a cooler bag that can hold a six pack of your favorite drink. I tossed in a small bag of toiletries like sunscreen, bug spray etc.The "skirt" that zips in is perfect! I am a very white girl so the sun loves to burn me when on the water. I love that the skirt covers your legs while also being roomy. Overall, I felt so secure, stable and really enjoyed my maiden voyage with Bodhi 2. As you can see in the pic, I did strap to the cover my drybag for phone, ID and car key.In terms of deflation, I just undid the caps for air. I did not completely deflate the kay and try to fold it back up. My hope is to spend the summer kayaking so its folded in half in my car, ready for the next adventure. I have a Honda Civic four door and it fit easily in there (folded).I had many folks come over and take a look at this rugged beast because they were so impressed. You will be too! This is one of my most favorite purchases and will not go back to a traditional kayak again.Happy kayaking. Best, jy

Easy inflate as promised
I am loving my Sevylor Quickpak Kayak. They are not fibbing when they say it inflates easy and fast. I use the pump it came with. Now, all things that I have to fumble with tick me off to no end and I have zero patience. So when I say it was easy, that is a big statement.-Flaw: the seat is supposed to double as a backpack. You will never get the boat back into the seat that turns into a 'backpack'. Just forget about this. The upside to this is that the boat deflates quickly and easily and I just fold it and toss it in the trunk.-Flaw: The seat is crazy. It was mind boggling to assemble. Once I got the seat (also a backpack) into some semblance of a seat shape, I left it as such. Do not disassemble the seat once together. Once together it just velcro's into the boat. It's not much of seat, in fact it's barely a seat, but the boat is comfy in itself so it's not really an issue at all. I even with the silly seat, I am comfortable in the kayak.-Flaw: The paddle. Nine million pieces that didn't seem to fit. What if it falls apart out on the water? Lacking patience for nine million pieces of paddle I immediately chucked it in the trash and went out and got a fairly good one at Dick's for 30 bucks.OVERALL: the kayak is just great, very fun, very easy and fast to inflate, easy to lift, very comfy. It is very durable. Has a storage compartment. It does not go as fast as a hardshell but that's fine for just paddling around our Adirondack ponds. I highly recommend this for people with no roof rack on their car or cannot lift a hardshell to the roof of their car.

Best $300 I ever spent
Y'ALL. I bought this beast two years ago to float as many rivers as possible down here in Texas, and it has truly changed my outdoor life. I was struggling with the tripartite issues of driving a small beater Honda Civic, not having enough money for roof racks, and still wanting to spend every weekend exploring the rivers near San Antonio. When I discovered this kayak, I was skeptical that it would hold up for more than a season. Turns out that the tough outer shell has repelled every type of stick, branch, and rock I've been able to smash into. The backpack system is so easy and useful for scrambling up and down muddy banks. After about 30-40 uses, one of the seat buckles broke, and one air chamber is leaking into another air chamber, though everything is still airtight from the outside. This is just normal wear and still better than I expected. One thing to keep in mind: this 'yak is a little short for someone like me who's 6'3". My feet totally hang off the end unless I tuck them in. But it's OK because I can lean back on that ultra-comfortable air cushion behind me, which makes my hardshell friends envious. Also, I'm able to pack this entire system onto a bike rack for a fully unsupported solo kayaking out-and-back adventure. This thing has truly enabled me to explore places I wouldn't otherwise because of my budget, so thank you Seyvlor!
