Best purchase of my life???
I bought this refurbished and honestly I would've paid full price for it. In my opinion, this is the best value for money TV on the market. The 120hz refresh rate and 1ms response times make it perfect for gaming. And the Dolby vision, 4K resolution and extremely high contrast display make it the perfect cinema TV as well. It goes super bright and the built in speakers made me question if I even needed a sound bar they are so good. (I got one anyway but the built in speakers are seriously good). The remote is extremely intuitive and you can just point it at the tv and a cursor will come up that you can just wave your hand around to control. It also has a microphone on the remote that you can just press and speak into the search for things. This speeds up my YouTube watching 10 fold. honestly if you are in the fence then just buy it. If you aren’t on the fence… then just buy it. You don’t think you need it till you’ve got it. And then you’ll never look back. Thrilled is the only word I can use.

Versatile TV
I really like this. I had an LG LED before but the image is much clearer with OLED.The image settings range from almost too dull to see clearly to really bright vivid colour.I would have preferred a simple brightness control but the fixed settings give enough options. The warnings that the more vivid the picture, the more energy the TV will use are wasted on me because I can't see the point in not having the picture bright enough to see properly. I can't say I've noticed any increase in electricity usage anyway. I did find it quite heavy when fitting it to my wall bracket but then I was doing it by myself which wasn't recommended. The top half of the tv is incredibly thin with all the 'works' in the bottom half and consequently all the weight is at the bottom too.I was a bit worried about the reviews that mention burn in and for a while I avoided pausing DVDs when leaving the room but over the few weeks I've had the Tv I've got used to leaving the picture paused for longer periods and haven't seen any sign of burn in. Certainly the on screen channel logos haven't caused any problems. I suppose it all depends on how long the image is static but I can't imagine wanting to leaving a frozen image for very long. The built in sound is very much better than my old LG but I use home cinema speakers for preference because I already had them. All the same, sometimes I forget to switch to surround sound and don't always notice at first because the TV sound is perfectly acceptable for normal broadcast programmes. The remote control is different to any I've had before, with the on screen cursor for selecting. It does revert to normal button use if you don't use the cursor much but you can bring it back by shaking the remote.Handy to have a scroll wheel when using the programme guide. The pre-set facility is handy for switching to favourite channels, including to i-player etc and it's easy to change the pre-sets as and when required. All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Alexa and everything
Ok so I’ll start with the elephant in the room Alexa controls. To be honest when you get Alexa to run your tv it’ll be on the basis of turning it on and off. Selection of channels etc you’ll do simpler via the smart remote. But all the reviews that say you can’t turn the tv on and off are poppycock. Simply name your LG ‘TV’ and add routines in the Alexa app that turn on and off the tv. I’ve even added the scope of my wife using the term ‘telly’. I’ve then also added a routine to say ‘goodnight’ to Alexa, she turns the TV, lights and locks the doors all in the same routine. (It’s better having an echo dot next to the tv, rather than using the in built Alexa)I got this tv mostly because of LG web OS. It free’d up 4 of my HDMI slots by adding apps to Now TV, amazon prime and Apple TV. Although I’d would like to see BT Sport app and Roku tv added as apps. Also the ability to change the ‘Movies’ button from rukuten to sky store or iTunes would be appealing. But with Disney +, Apple TV and you tube apps now added it’s quite dynamic.2 days later I’m still playing with the set up of the TV and Alexa controls, it intuitively learned the sky q remote controls, and has added BT box controls also (although I’ve not tested them yet). Only thing lacking is being able to turn sky q box on (I still need to find the sky q remote for that) otherwise all the controls needed are in the LG smart remote.Edit: So if you ask Alexa to turn the Tv on, then ask her to select the HDMI number that Sky Q is on, the tv automatically detects Sky Q box is not turned on, and gives you the option to turn it on Via the magic remote! Alternatively, if the TV is power on and you power Sky Q or BT boxes up, it auto tunes to the correct HDMI.Colour on the screen is bright, but apparent lack of manual controls of colour, contrast and brightness I think limit the user experience some what. I’ll update if I find them in the menu somewhere. With Netflix broadcasting a lot of 4K content, watching via the Web OS app, rather than through the Sky Q app, shows the true quality of picture.Sound is awesome, especially noticeable on Sky q and Netflix. I do intend to add a Dolby Atmos sound bar at some point.
