Maybe not be entirely believable but still a good "whodoneit"
Yes, this happens. To the anesthesiologist who says this would never happen and any anesthesiologist would always catch it...maybe GOOD ones catch it, but obviously anesthesiologists are not all that wonderful, some are possibly under the influence or not paying attention. Believe me, I woke up 5 times during a colonoscopy at a major hospital and will never have one again because of the experience of being poked in the butt with a sharp implement! Luckily I was not paralyzed as it was sedation rather than general anesthesia and I complained LOUDLY as it was very painful. An anesthesiologist that inept should just be fired! But back to the movie; I think the parts that were unrealistic were minor points compared to the plot which was exciting and it was well written, as the writer just let small clues out here and there. It really wasn't until the last part that you knew who all was involved in the scheme to murder the main character. One scene that stood out in my mind as especially chilling was when the surgeon told the main character to imagine him cutting into his flesh and showed him the scalpel and how sharp it was. If any doctor or other healthcare professional had related to me that way I would immediately take that as a threat and RUN and would find somebody else! (I once had a visiting nurse that seemed to have a morbid fascination with sticking patients with needles and as soon as I picked up on that I was not going to have her do any blood draws or IVs and requested another).Included in this film were some life lessons;1) Sometimes your mother actually does know best and is not just trying to smother you and run your life.2) There are many pressures and temptations in the field of medicine that medical professionals need to steer clear of, and if you see a co-worker do something unethical SAY something, even if you have to report it anonymously. The wellbeing of the patient must always be put first, before the healthcare corporation, your colleagues, fame, or money.3) Greed can be a corrupting influence in any profession and a person must be diligent in vetting those around them before trusting them. Keep close tabs on how your friends and others are treating you and if something doesn't ring true trust your gut. There are still some good people left in the world but sometimes people do have ulterior motives for being in your life and you must be willing to re-evaluate these relationships periodically even if you don't like or want to see the signs they are sending. Blind trust is dangerous, as it can leave you open to exploitation. Trust with verification!

Edge of your seat thriller.
I'm a retired OR, RN, and I was panic stricken until the end of the movie. Many twists and turns. Who's bad? Who's good? I would have liked a little longer ending, but that's just me. I don't want to spoil the ending, but I'll say that I don't care for one of the performers in any movie they act in, so when they turned out to be the most devious character (IMO) in this film, I was so glad and felt some redemption. Lol. Bad me for personifying a performer in everything they do.

Pure excellence and shows Hollywood can still make great films.
Start to finish, this film is simply amazing. The foul language is kept to a general minimum, which is important to us. We are tired of film makers and script writers/dialogue writers thinking foul language is necessary in film. For over 50 years it was not present, and some of the best films ever produced have not one foul word in them. The casting was simply great. Every actor was well chosen, fit the role in which they played, and it was nice to see Chris McDonald show up in a great production. While his role was rather small, he was great. Lena Olin was perfectly cast as well. Even Jessica Alba was well cast and played her role very well, with relish. Terence Howard, as always, was great, too. Hayden Chrsitiansen was probably the weakest of the cast, but even here he did well. Ironically, he didn't really have much of a role in one sense. It was the rest of the cast that really propelled the film to greatness, along with the script/plot being so well conceived. The director, Joby Herold, I heard this was his first major production as director. Well, he got an amazing project in this film. His work here can only be called superb. And the editing...this is where films are made or broken. The editing was tight, well paced and on the money. Every scene had something to contribute to the story. If you paid attention, every scene was telling you something you need to know. It was done slyly, and very cleverly, something sorely lacking in a lot of film work today.Well, I didn't give anything away here. Put this film on, get some popcorn now, not during, because you don't want to miss a single minute of this film, it is that engaging!

I woke up in surgery!
fortunately it was towards the very end of the surgery however, I even heard the doctor's assistant say "look at her grimacing" and someone saying "knock her out" while they finished stitching me up. I mentioned this because some of the reviews say this is an impossible situation, it is not. Amazon used to have a book that was in my wish list just on this subject of being awake during anesthesia but I finally removed it because I've had so many surgeries and more pending and I didn't want to read it and get frightened. As to the movie if I mention anything about the plot it will be a spoiler. I will say it reminded me very much of "out-of-body" experiences that are fairly common, especially in cardiac procedures, or cardiac arrest, and if you're interested you can hear or read all about them, especially common on YouTube-usually listed under ndes-standing for "near-death experiences", although in this case it was not a near death experience- he was experiencing an out of body when he was running up and down the hall-enough said or I'll ruin your watch of this unique film. A lot of bad karma for that operating team! 4.5 stars only because of one scene which I would have changed which I'm not even going to mention.

“When your numbers up, your numbers up.” [Dr]
“When your numbers up, your numbers up.” [Dr]In this 2007 conspiracy thriller, Clay Beresford (Hayden Christensen) needs a heart transplant and secretly marries Samantha "Sam" Lockwood (Jessica Alba), his mother's personal assistant. As Sam and his mother, Lilith (Lena Olin), await completion of his surgery, Clay suffers anesthesia awareness exposing his Dr’s plot to murder him and that Sam is part of it, but what will he do with the cat out of the bag? This takes a slow character building start before getting into it’s stride, but it makes the story harder hitting once it kicks in and if you haven’t read the reviews etc, there’s a good twist in the tail. Decently acted, it really comes together toward the end but much lacks suspense [lose a *].The single disc loads to 5 trailers before main menu offering play, scene selection, set up [5.1/DTS/2.0 and English subtitles on/off] and special features [audio commentary, making of, deleted scenes, storyboard, blooper reel]. As a 15 rating it has plenty of swearing and some intense surgical scenes. Does for surgery what ‘Jaws’ did for swimming. Well worth a try, but not for the surgically squeamish, but if you’ve read the plot, don’t bother as it’ll lack tension.

Completely Watchable
I recorded this on Sky + but as usual the box only recorded part of the movie as it needed disk space for "On Demand" to record other rubbish I never have any intention of watching. Anyway, the movie is alright - not an award winner but it was easy to watch, it will have you wondering where it's going at the beginning as the plot line is a bit loose but as it progresses you'll soon realise what is going down, it is a half decent storyline (with a couple of twists and turns) and I really just needed to see the end. Happy with the movie, and price of the DVD which I have now donated to the local charity shop.

Predictable
No surprises here. Seeing the title, from the moment the film begins, you more or less know, how it will end. Not particularly great acting.

amiliar with
A medical scam being conducted on a man that is placed in a situation where an out of body experience (OBE) is actually occurring. Through this OBE, the truth of the story comes to light in a more stunning way. There's nothing here that audiences would not be familiar with, but it's the story that is the reason to keep watching, in order to find out just how the situation resolves itself.
