A Fun Book for Kids
This seems like a fun book for kids to get them thinking about math. I gave it as a gift, and the child's mom appreciated that.

Kept my son interested
This was a cute book. The overall story line was creative, but I could have done with a few less characters. My son is 4 and I don't think he grasped who everyone was. Nevertheless, it kept his attention and he liked hearing about all the different foods they were eating. It was well-written and I liked that it incorporated math skills. While my son is a little young to understand all of the math concepts now, this will be a book he can grow into. The illustrations were very good. I would recommend this book!

Great for Area and Perimeter
Where has this been all my life! This is such a fun activity for teaching area and perimeter! There are a TON of free activities to go along with it. I just had my students draw and table the amounts in their journals as we progressed through the book. It was high interest and a great way to incorporate literature into your math block. I'm always on the look out for good math literature....if you don't have this one, get it!

Great Book - Use with Foam Color Tiles
I am using this book with students. It is one of my favorite Marilyn Burns books. I purchased "School Smart Foam Color Tiles" on Amazon to use with it. They are the perfect size for the activities concerning perimeter, area, and arrays. There are activity ideas in the back of the book. There is also a great lesson math activity to go with this book that can be found at [...]

Seating arrangements at the Comfort Family Spaghetti Dinner!
Cute story! Mr. and Mrs. Comfort follow the spaghetti recipe to share comfort food with their neighbors and family. The book has real-life 'math problem and solving' situations. Dividing-sharing equally and multiplying to make enough food. Not to mention there is some nice shape recognition in the story as well for younger students, and for older students - how to optimize your seating arrangement space (nice for area and perimeter). Thanks for making education fun!

It was wonderful! My kids got into the story and were shocked that the family kept moving tables. I also partnered students up and gave them 8 square tiles like the book. The created as many different table arrangements as possible, then recorded the perimeter of each. Great way to explore perimeter.

Bought for a job interview during which I had to do a lesson about area and perimeter. In the event I didn't use it, as it would have taken too long (my lesson was only 30 minutes), but it is a good book for teaching children about area and perimeter whilst making them think - it doesn't just 'spoon feed' it to them. I am now saving it for a full-length Maths lesson and will definitely use it. I would estimate that it is suitable for KS2: a high ability Year 4 class or Years 5 and 6 or even Year 7.

The text was boring, and the illustrations too busy & distracting for young students to focus on the Maths concept idea . We had more fun moving tables around and testing out the concepts in reality.

Great problem solving story. In literacy we turned the story into a play script, then acted the problem out in an amazing assembly. All children involved, acting and watching, enjoyed.
