Extend your pool season for pennies!
We live in an exurb of Washington DC in southern Maryland and installed our saltwater pool three years ago. We didn't put in a heater because we didn't know if we would need it, and also because unlike the chlorine generator we could add it later for the same price. Two years ago the fall weather was so hot--and the pool water so warm--that we didn't close the pool until November, but last year it was cold and rainy and we had to close it on Labor Day. (We have a Loop-Loc impermeable winter cover. In our climate you don't need a heater if your pool is in the sun and you can't keep it open much longer than April-October without a retractable cover and daily work).I bought this cover, which is really just thick blue bubble wrap, to heat up my pool more quickly in the spring and use to cover it in the fall to warm the water and keep most of the leaves out. Since the reviews on here are so ambivalent, I went with the size that would cover most of the pool and cost less than my phone bill. If it didn't heat the water, or it ripped, or got moldy, I was only out the cost of two tanks of gas. As you can see from the photos, I didn't even bother cutting it to fit and using the grommet system, I just got my kid to help drag it across the water and weighed it down with pavers. And do I really expect thick bubble wrap, in full sun, on top of salt water and concrete, to last two or three years? Of course not! How ridiculous! I paid $5k for my Loop-Loc and IT doesn't have a three year warranty! But you want to know if it works, is it as advertised, and is it worth the money. Yes, yes, and yes!Does it keep the water warm? ABSOLUTELY! It's 65° at night and the water is still 85°!Is it easy to put on? Yes! I'm 120 lbs and I can put it on with one of my middle schoolers helping, and I can take it off all by myself without even getting in the pool. I do use the leaf-blower to blow the leaves off first. Can I use the filter with it on? Yes, and I can't speak for chlorine pools but in my salt pool the chlorine level stays very high since the cover keeps the chlorine (and water) from evaporating. The company went above and beyond, too! I ordered it and it came as promised, then I got an email from the seller saying they sent grommets and instructions separately and tobe looking for that in the mail, and gave me a phone number to call if I had any questions or issues whatsoever. All this for a $100 piece of bubble wrap! This thing is great. I'll try to roll it up and keep it in the shed until spring, but for that price if it gets moldy or rips I'll buy a new one next year!

Does Not Float, Not Recommended
This floating solar cover does not float. This thinner solar cover was purchased to protect against evaporation and dust more than heat my pool. I buy a new one every year. This is by far the absolute worst of them all. It does not even float. What makes it worse is it can’t be returned because I trimmed it to size. I had to trim it to size because they sent one that was MUCH larger than what I ordered. I actually laughed because it’s almost enough for a second pool cover. This will go in the trash and was a complete waste of money.

Worked as intended
I bought this end of March hoping it will speed up the warming process.Although I live in warm, sunny south Florida, my pool is screen enclosed and only receives direct sunlight for half of the day. The pool usually doesn't feel warm enough each year until the end of May. The pool water was 80 degrees (85 outside) when I put the cover in. In two days the pool warmed up to 82. After a day of rain it was back to 80. By the end of a week of alternating overcast and good sun, the pool was up to 84. We had a couple of more days of really good sun and the pool is almost 86 degrees, about the same as outside. It seems to work just by keeping the sun-warmed surface water from evaporating and maybe insulating the water from "cooler" overnight temp. I don't expect this to ever warm the water more than the current outside temp. It also seems to need consecutive days of warm sun to make a difference. One day of rain to set it back. I don't imagine this would be very useful for us any other time of year or for any other purpose. However, it got us swimming in early April as opposed to late May.It does appear to be just blue bubble wrap, which may make the price sound unreasonable and might also explain durability issues others have written. However, I got the results I hoped for so I'm happy. Maybe plain bubble wrap would work too, especially if was clear instead if blue.I have been putting the cover back on when we are not swimming. After maybe another week, I plan to out the cover away for the rest of the year to preserve the durability for next spring.

Lasts about 120 days in the Texas sun, but does the job.
Bought this in April 2023 to extend our swimming season. Put it on for 30-45 days then, another 30-45 in the Fall, 2023, and again in the Spring this year. After having it on this Fall for October/November, it has started to wear. The little bubbles are starting to fall off. The teenagers say it looks like lots of little contact lenses in the pool. And it's starting to tear quite easily. On the plus side, it is lightweight, and has worked for two full seasons. I'll replace it in the spring, probably with something more heavy duty.

Great solar cover at a reasonable price!
This is our 4th solar cover on our in ground pool over many years. We put the cover off and on using a cover roller - definitely worth the $$! We have used this cover now for a full season. It is the right weight for a 16x36 ft pool. You can get ones that are too heavy making it difficult to roll on and off - so heavier is not always better. One person can relatively easily put get this one on and off. It makes a huge difference in keeping our pool warm though cold nights in the northeast. This cover feels sturdy while working with it and shows no sign of breaking down during the first season. Based on past performance with similar covers you can expect to get about 3-4 seasons before it starts to breakdown producing little blue dots in the pool as the “bubbles” breakdown.

light weight
very good solar cover for the price. The way its attachable to the roller is much better than others we have used. great price too. We cut it to fit our oval inground pool.. its GREAT and heats it up.
