Excellent , simple , accurate unit
Worked perfectly right out of the box. Nice heavy duty acrylic base and super heavy hardware. Simple operation is refreshing in this overly gimmicky app-inundated world we live in. Some other manufacturers could take notes from this monitor!Others have said there is no way to secure it into your cutout if you can’t access the back. I can confirm that. However , a 2 1/8” hole saw produces a perfect fit in plywood. I didn’t need it but one could add a single layer of electrical tape around the perimeter for a super snug fit.Yes, cord is too short. Ended up being just enough for my application. You can extend it without too much trouble. It’s a standard 5 pin JST-XH.Battery sampling wire I used was 18awg. The screw terminals on top of the unit worked great. Philips, very small. Consider tinning the end of your wire and then smashing it flat and trimming it square for a good connection. 18 gauge is probably about as big as it will accept.Even the backlight is great. When the backlight is turned off the screen still glows ever so slightly so you can read it. Perfect for nighttime in the woods. The screen is quite shiny so consider glare from windows when installing. The accuracy of any monitor depends on your configuration! For my one year old AGMs I used 50% of the rated capacity and charged them up fully with a good 3 stage charger before connecting this monitor. Then set the current SOC to 100 and forgot about it. I set zero % SOC voltage to 10.1. Have a couple weeks camping in the RV so far with good results.

Easy install and accurate but reads only amps, not watts also, which would be convenient.
I actually rate this 4 1/2 Stars.I chose this meter mostly on the reviews and display interface and because it was a shunt vs hall effect type. The install was fairly simple and so is the set-up, especially if you can read Chin-glish. There are several videos on youtube also. You must remember that this, and other meters, rely on what parameters you enter. If you tell it you have a 100ah battery and it's charged at 100%, it assumes that is correct. If your battery is older and has been through many cycles, it's no longer a 100ah battery. My three year old flooded deep cycle 105ah battery now has a ah capacity of 75ah. If i enter 105ah and 100% charge, when it tells me I've used 52.5ah and am at 50% with 52.5 ah remaining, it's not correct. Yes I've used the 52.5ah but 52.5 from 75 is 22.5ah remaining with 30% left, putting my battery in the danger zone of more than 50% discharge. If I decide to say let it run down to 30% and I'll charge it tomorrow, I'll end up close to dead! So it's up to you to be sure what you really have. If you're not sure, they tell you to discharge the battery completely, set display at 0 then charge it fully to see how much current it will accept. Then use that number to set up your meter. The meter reads both directions, charge (display light blinks and shows up arrow) and discharge (display light stays on with a down arrow) and at rest, the light will go out until one of the buttons is pushed. It will give you the total amps going in or out, ah's left, a percentage of ah left and a percentage picture "guage". There's no way to turn the display off so if the blinking or on light is bothersome, consider this when selecting a location for it.It reads in amps, NOT Watts, so you end up multiplying amps by volts to get watt usage. It's my biggest complaint with this meter. I minus 1/2 star because of this for a 4 1/2 star rating. The supplied cable is about 6 ft. long. Amazon sells a 16 ft. cable from Aili. It's listing is "Custom cable for battery monitor 26awg with connector stranded shielded cable - 16feet"Pictures show it as an extension cable but reviewers say it's a replacement cable. It also lists different ASIN numbers for the 100a shunt cable and 350a shunt cable but no choices to select from????

good value
first of all it is ridiculous that they don't include the small red wire used to power the unit from the red terminal, it would cost them five cents. minus one star for that.second you should know that the cable from the meter will not plug directly into the shunt, but rather the long extension cable is actually an adapter cable that must be used to make the connection. kind of annoying if you don't need the length.that being said I did a quick and dirty install for my trolling motor and the unit was easy to set up and seems to work well.as for accuracy, my understanding is that this does not actually monitor your battery, but works more like your electric meter at home, just measuring the current that runs past it. it works on the assumption that your battery is still functioning at peak amp hours and is fully charged. still that should be good enough for most purposes.

Display screen is visible during the day.
Works great so far and the display is viewable! I've bought three different brands over the past month and had to return them because the display was NOT visible during the day. This one is great.
