Q: what model Leatherman Multitool is the SMALLEST ?

The Leatherman Squirt series is the smallest tool they carry. It is 2.25" in length when closed.

Q: Lost mine recently to airport security, want to replace, picture here shows no quick-release though to get off keychain fast. Is that accurate?

it is sold exactly as pictured. I know the model you refer to, but this one does not have that feature built in. It is nice because it fits in a pocket better though!

I just saw this company on the world news, made in America. It's made in the good old USA. Even the steel is American made.

Q: would the scissors part of the tool cut through a zip tie?

I'm surprised to hear this can cut zip ties because when I tried cutting a zip tie with mine, bought around December 2015 from Amazon, it didn't work. It actually put a small nick on my scissor's edge even though I didn't use much force--I eased off on it when I noticed it wasn't cutting in. Maybe mine is defective with bad heat treating. It worked great with paper but not as well now even with paper after this.
