I needed an inexpensive tester to check engine blocks with. This seems to work just fine. I did radius the probe slightly to fit the concave of the cylinder bore.

The device itself seems very easy to operate, though I would like to see an update to the instructions. The company representative explained by email, the discrepancy in the instructions - relating to operating modes - better than the instructions are written. Either way, I was able to learn how to use it properly, and it seems to be accurate. It's also REALLY nice to be able to read the thickness through a painted surface AND be able to measure cast iron (automotive cylinder blocks), where other thickness gauges are not able to do this. This feature is typically very expensive in other devices. The ad suggested it came with the working gel for the sensor connection to the material (showing a photo of the container). The bottle included was empty, when it arrived, and I didn't see the additional ad detail suggesting the "binder" (gel) was not included. The company representative was very responsive to my inquiry, and quickly rectified the issue with reimbursing me for the purchase I made for the gel (I didn't even have to ask them for this). Hopefully, they will correct the ad to reflect this understanding, going forward. Overall, I don't think there is another product you can buy, with all these features, for this price. This product works extremely well on thin wall thickness metals. I attempted to also use it for testing if shafts or pins had broken, but I cannot get a reliable reading over 4". The user manual suggests it can reach up to 18" but I have not been able to achieve that no matter the setting.

This gauge works well. The through coating works well and the gauge is simple to use and is accurate.
