Does exactly what I want
This is very easy to use and has a standard set up. It is good for the money. I have been sewing by hand and thought I really don’t need a lot of features but front and back is good. So far the only problem I have is the thread keeps breaking and since the tread goes from the front to the back it is hard to thread the needle with a needle threader(my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be ) .the light also turns on as soon as you start working on the machine . I bought a case and it is light enough to be easily portable and is quiet. I like the machine a lot.

1st review...machine Not new.....sent back. 2nd review on machine I reordered...it's OK
First review This machine box had been opened previously...not new. Returned and will reorder.Second review 5/11/23. Received my reordered machine all OK.The machine works quite well but I think it would be difficult for someone who has never operated a sewing machine before to get all the instructions without pulling your hair out ; If you are mechanically inclined you may be able to do it OK. I hope it works for a long time and doesn't give me any trouble. It's made well although the foot pedal isn't quite what I have been used to...it's pretty small, but I'll probably get used to it. The stitch size/design adjuster is great...very helpful. The hardest part of threading the machine is figuring out the thread guide on top, and threading the bobbin. If you have used a sewing machine before it probably won't be too hard. I use only the large type rolls of thread and it does work ok with them. The first thing I tried was the bobbin winder to be sure that worked and it does. There is only (1) speed, and that speed is acceptable for sewing anything...not too fast & not too slow. There is a light on the machine but only comes on when the machine is plugged in...which is also fine. The worst part of the whole threading of the machine is the threading the needle after you finally get the thread down to it. The needle hole is from back to front and instructions say to thread it that way too. Getting the needle threader into that hole in the back of the needle was a challenge... But maybe the more I do it the easier it will be. UPDATE...the only change from last review is the needle threading... I had it wrong, the needle threads from front to back and is really quite easy to do. Stick with the manual and you will have it in no time 😉 9/15/23. Worked well for about 3 months and then the bobin started causing me trouble and actually quit making stitches at all...so was able to send back with a charge for shipping. Not sure what to do now, as I don't want to go through that again. Oh to have my old singer (metal) machine back...I can dream, I guess.😓 had to change the stars to (1)

Never Sewed Before, Still Got My Money's Worth
I needed to take in 10 dress shirts which would have cost me ~$110 and a week's wait. This machine and the supplies cost the same and I was able to accomplish the task on a Saturday afternoon after watching a few YouTube videos. I had no hands-on sewing experience prior to this project.I had a lot of apprehensions prior to starting but this turned out to be a great experience. This is an incredibly user friendly machine IF you follow the instructions and/or watch the company's free tutorial. The threading guides are clear and both the sewing and bobbin winding features work. I did break the thread a few times initially, but it was my fault. The feed speed is very manageable and the gap is big enough to fit adult sized hands. But the machine is light and tiny enough to store on a desk and not take too much room.If it were to break tomorrow, I'll be fine. And when it breaks, I'll be ready to upgrade to another singer model.

Came with a broken bobin winder
We loved the sewing machine but when we needed to use the bobin winder for the first time 5 months after purchasing, it didn’t work. Now we’re left with a machine we can’t use.
