Q: Does it do double sided copies and scans?

“Kindle Customer” must not understand the question. Double sided prints are possible, yes. If I were to print workbooks or any packet of materials, I can print double sided. HOWEVER, this is not asking about double-sided printing but is referencing scanning and copies. This answer to this questions is NO. You cannot put your copy through the ADF feeder and have it automatically copy or scan each side. You must manually flip the paper after each scan - either printing each one sided copy or scanning to the computer each manual scan. It’s very tedious and silly. The ADF is merely for show and is not at all helpful for multiple different copies of various documents. Imagine having a packet of 8 back-to-back pages. You can’t just place them in the ADF feeder and run your copies. You must print them all single sided from the top 8 pages and then again with the back 8 pages. It’s a mess.

Q: Can you use this for sublimation on shirts?

Yes... and no. If it is a NEW purchase and ink has NOT been installed, the answer is yes. Simply purchase "sublimation ink" that is compatible with your ET-5170 and use that INSTEAD of the ink that comes with the printer. I have the ET-5170 in my office with REGULAR ink and I have the ET-2170 in my craft room. Sublimation ink has the printed appearance of looking "faded" - that is why I have TWO printers (both Epson EcoTank printers). I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Supertank ink. Great quality and SO much more affordable! Hope this helps you.
