I have concrete flooring in our home, and I choose to use futons because I find it relieves alot of back pain. And using a rug under the futons was not cutting. Decided to splurge and order these, the quality is very nice and comfortable by it self and has helped immensely under the futons. I've read many complaints about the smell, but frankly I find it comforting as it reminds me of when we were kids and would take the back roads with our Nana just to smell the alfalfa. Over all will return for an update after some usage.

The mat is thick, and stitches are nice and even. However, it has missing / broken hay here and there. It does strong hay smell, so please air vent it for a couple of days before using. Last thing, although the vendor's address is in Japan, this mat is made in China.

I love this Tatami mat, and I use it under my futon. However, I do suggest airing it out before use if you don't want your room to smell like hay.

It's a great mat. I fold it up every night along with my futon giving me an extra room in the apartment. It's also padded (of course). Takes me back to my days visiting Japan. Well worth it - and the quality is just excellent.

Purchased to go beneath a futon / shikibuton. Does the job, folds well, and has a nice herbal scent, reminiscent of green tea.

It arrived very wet and stinks like a guinea pig cage and bug spray or chemicals. It says I'm supposed to send it back but the box was damaged and wet. Cardboard melts in the rain. I don't have access to another box this size. 😕 I don't know if all the rain and damp box made it smell worse? Or just brought out the odors? It really smells like animal droppings.

Upon opening the box with the mat in it, it did not smell like chemicals at all. It smelled like hay and a bit earthy. Which is fantastic, it’s very well made imo! Had to return due to sizing issue. Emoor went above and beyond to help me out!

I purchased the single Tatami mat to support my Fuli futon. The mat is excellent, folding neatly and providing a slight 'give' and authentic feel (and aroma). You will buy this quality item once only, so do not fret about cost. Excellent service from Emoor.

Simply perfect and meets my expectations. It's slimmer than other tatamis, but that's just perfect for folding and putting it away. Love the smell.

折りたためるスノコの上に敷布団を使っていましたがスノコが折れてしまい、フローリングに直でカビが心配だったので畳にしてみました！大正解すぎますこれしっかりいぐさの香りもするしそこまでキツくないかな、厚みも割とある！布団敷いて数日経ちますが、布団上げた時の裏の湿りが全くなくて感動してます！！重宝します！！！
