Seems like in so many tutorials on YOUTUBE they are using this color. I was told long ago by one of my first instructors to be careful with Payne's grey as it can such the life out of a painting so I have always been wary of it. I usually mix my own shadows so have never used it. I bought it to have on hand for there are other instructions on it's uses.

Daniel Smith watercolors are the best!! Payne's Grey is a classic color that can be used in many palettes. It's a good neutral grey.
