Great look and fit
Just out of the box reviewThe Sizing:Depending on the maker and style of shoe or boot, I wear a size 10 to 10.5 and on occasion an 11. My foot is wide so I ordered a 10.5 M hoping they would work for me. They fit and feel great right from the box.The Look:I ordered the Cordovan and it's a beautiful dark brown. The boots are lightweight and simple but refined in their styling. The tread design is not deep but looks likes it will grip and wear well.Overall:This is a great looking pair of boots that appear to be very well made. They are comfortable right from the box. I went to one of the large brick shoe stores and tried on several pairs of hiking boots. They were double to triple the cost of these and none fit or were styled any nicer. Overall, I don't see how you can go wrong with these boots.Good Looking, Great fit, Great price and free shipping (and returns if needed) with Amazon... PerfectDown the trail after using these for a while, if I have any issues, I will post them here.Cheers.

Seem Awesome
I bought a pair of Columbia boots on Amazon maybe 6 or 7 years ago and beat the crap out of them and they held up really well. They finally were starting to wear out and also they've never been really waterproof (though the soles were still really good). I bought these and they are awesome boots for $50. They fit great. Another reviewer said they were a size too small for him, but that has not been my experience. I have size 15 feet and I bought size 15 boots and they fit great. I am a little nervous that the tongue won't turn out to be waterproof, but I haven't really stepped into deep water with these yet. The leather seems a tiny bit thin compared to other boots I've had. But for $50, so far they are awesome. I'll check back later after I've given them a good winter's worth of use and let you know whether they hold together and whether they're really waterproof. But right now, I'm really glad I bought them. They seem awesome, they fit, they seem sturdy, and they're comfortable.*** UPDATE: After a year's use, they're still going strong and they are waterproof. I still feel like the material seems a little thin, but they're great boots for $50 and not falling apart yet.

Great boots once they are broken in properly.
When I first got the box and open it, I was concerned. The boots did appear to look smaller then my current boots but not by much. I then put them on and it was a tight fit to get my foot in. Though once my feet were in I noticed that I had toes space and nothing was really squeezing just rather snug. Which hiking boots should be a little snug to keep from movement but these were a bit more snug then I like. I decided to continue to wear them. They were snug for a bit, but after a couple wearings my foot slid in much better and after a week of wearing them they are probably the best fitting boot I've owned. My foot doesn't move, the boot has moved into a comfortable snug feeling and feel great. The only issue I had was I had to buy insoles with arch supports, but I normally have to do that with my boots. I would definitely recommend if you can handle allowing a little break in time for them to feel right.

Comfortable fit, but uncomfortable walking
I have a narrow foot and chose this boot based on the other reviews that say it runs narrow. I found this to be accurate, and the Columbia Newton Ridge was very comfortable for me to stand in. Unfortunately, with each step I took in these boots the front of the upper creased and dug painfully into my big toe on each foot. It did not seem like something that would get better with time, and so I returned this pair and am trying a different brand. Pity. I really liked everything else about these boots: good ankle support, comfortable foot bed, and no slipping of my heel. To me, if it weren't for the creasing toe, they would earn 5 stars, and I'd be keeping them. Maybe you won't have the same problem.

Feather-lite
First, let me say, I bought these shoes for work, not hiking. I can't review their waterproofing capabilities, or their ability to withstand the outdoor environment.I've had these a week, so I still have to get my feet used to them. By used to them I mean, I need to have my feet to stop hurting whenever I use new shoes, no matter what they are. I stand for long periods, and climb stairs very often, so the shoes get used immediately and used hard. The first thing I noticed was the weight of them, or rather, lack thereof. These are very light shoes, much lighter than what I am used to with work boots. This is a real winner for me!The body of the shoe is leather, with man-made materials for the sole. They have 2 hooks at the top of the lacing that are open enough, and appear strong so as not to bend close. Oh yes, the laces are the right length! Not really enough time for any in-depth reviewing, just that they appear well made, and are very light.

Nice value in a casual boot
This is a good boot for the price. It is attractive with it's low-key dark brown color - I wanted them to be unobtrusive, as I like to wear them to the office with khakis. Boots are very light, won't do for real backpacking, but ok for day hiking without a load. Very comfortable. The fit was snug with my usual 11.5 D size, the width was more like a 'C', the length is good. Boots were stiff when new, so I applied liberal amounts of mink oil to soften them up a bit. After a few wearings, they begin to conform to my foot better and became very comfortable. I miss having a tab or loop in the back to pull them on with.My verdict, great value for what you're paying. Great to wear to work on casual day, or to knock around town running errands or doing chores. Don't buy these if you're looking for a backpacking or serious hiking boot. I would buy these again, but may go for same size in wide, or bump it up a half size.
