Hand Forged Damascus Steel/High-Carbon steel/T10 Steel Katana Sword Blank Blade

The items were wonderful but having to pay $41.00 for c.o.d. because of the tariffs thanks to our wonderful government.

I bought this blade to practice sharpening blades before I actually touched my real katana. After sharpening it and mounting it in a tsuka handle it made a very nice katana for practice and I won’t cry any tears if it gets bent or broken. The blade is well formed, very straight and very well polished. It was not difficult at all to get the blade razor shaving sharp.

This is not my first sword making rodeo. I have been through different sword vendors for sword blanks and I’ve had my eye on this vendor from Amazon for a while now but this is my first purchase. The box came exceptionally packaged and care was obviously given. The entire blank is incased in two layers of wood for both the blade and handle. This makes for good packaging but also can be turned into a fictional handle and sheath if your project deems it so. All this being said the pretty dark red and black swirls that make up the blade is only a surface level thing. You must be aware that these things scuff easy regardless of the seller. Anytime a blade is colored or has smooth designs it will scuff easy and there is nothing a seller/maker can do about this. It is simply the nature of how they’re made. The blade was definitely harden to some sort of degree, but I would not place my life on it. When I got my blade the wood handle was stuck too tight for it to just slide off which meant it had to be cracked open to release the full blade. This happened because there is a plastic wrap that incases the blade before the handle and sheath are pressed on. This wasted that material I could’ve used for the handle. That being said this is still the only katana blank seller on Amazon and is the only option for katana makers. I do not blame the seller for the hardship of the blade but if you are a serious builder looking for top quality you won’t find it here. These blanks make good art swords or display swords. Nothing more, nothing less.

The blade is sharp. I purchased #4 which cost a bit more than advertised and am glad I did so. It is ready to attach your handle and furniture if you have the skills to do so.It comes shipped in a protective package. A wooden scabbard type "box" with a Styrofoam container over that in a well taped and secured cardboard shipping container. The blade itself is wrapped in a heavy plastic saturated with a heavy oil to prevent oxidation.Very impressive and would recommend to someone with basic wood working skills and some metal handling knowledge that wants to customize their own katana style blade.

I will say that it is very sharp and would likely cut but with it being so soft I wouldn’t say it is battel ready seller claims it’s a “real” sword but more like a display piece. the tip bent and broke off pretty easily i would think it would have been a bit stronger if it were heat(clay) treated properly other then that i like it very much the sword looks outstanding.

I had a great purchasing experience. The seller was very helpful when I had questions. The Blade was better than I was expecting, and came with a scabbard and handle blank, which was a nice surprise. These are great blades for anyone’s katana build. You will need to drill your own peg holes in the handle, it took me two cobalt bits and about 20 min to get mine done.Anytime I build/assemble another katana I will use these blades.

Good quality. Nice hamon. Nice blade blank for DIY custom katana. Bo hi on both sides needed modification but did not affect function of blade as is. Strictly a visiual problem on this particular blade. Pleased at this price point.
