Building Writing Skills Level 2 Workbook - Using a 5-Step Writing Process to Teach Writing (Grades 6-7) Paperback – January 1, 2017

If you are looking for a good writing curriculum this is very well done. Every step is well explained. My recommendation is to use a notebook/notepad alongside this so you have this for future students! The pace provided may be enough for those who are not long winded ;) but if you need more room... an extra notepad is useful. I love this book though. So many good things to say about it.. Well worth the money and I appreciate the affordable price for this product!! I highly recommend this to anyone!

We have just started using Building Writing Skills Level 2. It instructs both the student and parent/teacher through a step-wise process of writing personal narratives, story narratives, argumentative/persuasive writing, and informative/explanatory writing. It also provides examples of drafts and final work as well as a rubric for grading finished work. In addition to examples, the book provides graphical organizers for the student to go through the prewriting/brainstorming process, a first draft, revising checklist, revised draft, editing checklist and final draft or publishing. I find it useful for students who need help organizing their thoughts/information into a cohesive argument, story or essay.

Good workbook. Your basic writing work book for new writing skills.

I have had a hard time finding a curriculum that helps my homeschooled children learn to write essays and stories. Online courses cost a fortune and the cheap workbooks don't have enough to them that teach fundamentals of writing. I have always liked The Critical Thinking Company, their books are challenging and really help kids understand concepts taught to them. This book is no exception! My 6th grade so is learning to write papers. It goes through outlining, first drafts, and revising. He is learning the different types of writing like persuasive and narrative. His writing skills have improved immensely since he received this book!

I love this workbook, because it is not just writing prompts with open spaces. It give a full example from start to finish for each writing they do, planning, rough draft, review/edit, draft, last edit, published version. I love that I do not have to come up with a writing prompt, and then write down instructions for each section. It saves me a lot of time with homeschool planning.

The book provides a high level overview of the 5-step writing process. It then elaborates on each of the 5 steps. It also provides examples of the original sentence/paragraph and the revised sentence/paragraph.

This book was so well-written that there is nothing left out. As the parent teaching this to my son, I do not have to fill in any blanks. Even the space for my child to write is there. Steps 1, 2, 3...are CLEAR. I don't know how I found this book, but it is PERFECT!
