Blueridge BR-280A (D-45 look alike copy)
I purchased the lower priced 280A ($1800. with case) and liked it, so I figured the $3000 version might sound like a Martin D-45; so I sent the first trial purchase back and ordered the the "best". Well, if you are looking for the D-45 Martin sound, spend the money and buy a Martin. Although I like this guitar, it is made in China: that is, I find it similar to other foreign made instruments I have purchased--usually loud in volume but lacking in the wonderful resonance of expensive Martins, Gibsons, and not so expensive Taylors. The $3000 version, in my opinion, doesn't sound any better than the $1800 version; both seem to be well made. I think the extra money is for all the fancy inlay that I really didn't care for. Amazon is good: you can send it back if you don't like it. But, from now on, I will stick to Martin, Gibson, Taylor. Also, I believe domestic instruments are more in demand when you go to sell them some day, i.e., a better investment.
