Jet Plane: How It Works (My Readers) Paperback – September 18, 2012

I got this for my almost 4 year old grandson. He is in LOVE with ALL planes. I researched a few books before buying this one, because it seemed to have everything he wanted - pictures of an engine, the inside of a plane, etc. Even though the pictures in this book weren't "real" they were great illustrations. It's easy to read and holds his attention. The one thing I would have liked would have been to have an exact picture of what is written on the page. i.e. - one page is talking about the nose of the plane and you are looking at a picture of the BACK of the plane! Hard to show him where the nose is when it's not even there! Other than that, it's very good!

My recently turned 4 year old boy loves planes, so I figured this book would be a winner with him. But I didn't count on how much I would learn from it too! The information is in-depth, but presented in a manner that is easy for a 4 year old to understand, and find entertaining. We've read it at nap and bed time every day since we got it. Great book!

But it is a decent book that tells it like it is. Any kids that love aviation will like this.

I love David Macaulay and this book is no exception. it's a detailed, accurate, informative and compelling book on airplanes. I highly recommend!

Excellent book for your young pilot. Very informative. Great pictures and narrative. Highly recommended.

Have three little boys. - Big Hit!

This is such a wonderful book! I'm a big fan of anything by David Macaulay. My family had a Macaulay book while I was growing up and I like to have these around the house for my own son. I read my son Jet Plane when he was a young 5 year old. He wasn't interested. We just took a plane trip so I read it to him again, he's now six. He was fascinated. He's still a bit young to understand everything, but that's fine. This is a book we can revisit for years to come and he'll probably get more out of it each time. The drawings are wonderful and the explanation of the physics behind flight certainly taught me a lot about flight as well as my son. We have never been let down by a David Macaulay book and the old PBS videos are also worth checking out.

Pass. It's terrible.

Bought this for a young family member as part of his birthday present. He loves it - has read it over and over from cover to cover! It has quite a lot of facts on aeroplanes along with pictures which show details of what is written for further information. He can't get enough information about planes - anthing - from watching them take off and land to pictures and books about them - so was well pleased with this.
